Was gunna put this on earlier when I saw it. I know it’s a bit of a trek midweek but surely a championship club should be taking more than that
69 Accrington supporters made the trip to Oxford yesterday. It looks like a similar number from Wigan at Reading.
That struck me too, they look like a bunch of individuals making there own way down as opposed to a club outing if that makes sense. Anyone know if they put buses on?
I don't think anyone's mocking the ones that travelled - at least they shouldn't be anyway, fair play to every single one of them making that trek to a soulless bowl on a Wednesday night in Feb.
I wasn't mocking them either. There weren't many there because they haven't got that many fans. Even when they were in the Premier League there were masses of empty seats.
we took less than 100 to cardiff one midweek game not too long ago. end of the month, weds night, bit cold, both teams not that good.... it didn't exactly have much going for it last night!
9000-ish apparently. Worth remembering that Wigan have been a non league club for most of their history. They will always struggle a bit for crowds. Not a huge place and with rugby in their DNA. Like so many smaller clubs, carried upwards by cash, but as Bolton prove, that's only temporary. Expect Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley to all find their true level in coming few years.
