I see Hull’s support has dropped off a cliff since they dropped from Prem and now look a million miles away from getting back. Huddersfield’s average gate is the big eye opener there. In my lifetime they’ve usually had similar support to us. Almost 22k is staggering really for them.

But don't they have season tickets for 50 quid or something like.

Don’t think they’re so cheap but they do have some kind of offer I believe. They’re still riding wave of Prem I suppose. Be interesting to see if numbers hold up next season.

I was a bit surprised to see hudds attendance so high cos when I have seen some of their matches or highlights, there are loads of empty seats. Last season was obviously full every game but since dropping back in to championship their attendance has dropped. What does their stadium hold?

I would think they do the same as Barnsley, announce the figure based on seats sold (i.e. season tickets, corporate sales etc), rather than the number of bodies that actually attend.
Keeps the figures looking healthy for the sponsors

Just looked and John smith stadium holds 24,500. So I assume that’s what they are doing cos I don’t think they have that many in the ground.

Our attendances are boosted by Away support from clubs that have a big away following. There were 3999 away supporters yesterday, which gives 12605 home supporters. Our core support in the Championship is about this level. Even for big games were rarely go much above13000. In terms of support we are where we belong. However, the league table does not lie. I have written our chances off a couple of times this season, so I am not going to comment any further on where we will end up, I will continue to hope for the best. We do have a chance and with the bottom 3 teams hitting a bit of form and dragging teams who looked fairly secure a couple of weeks ago into the relegation scrap.

Apologies (for the second time today) for wandering off the original subject.

But don’t other clubs get similar boosts? Except perhaps Brentford where capacity is the limiting factor

It’s decent - considering the poor season. You could add another 1k on if we were mid-table I’d guess?

I've seen quite a few suggesting that "We're punching above our weight"

Agreed. but a lot of the clubs with big away support are in the North or the midlands. The further South the Away team the more expensive the travel costs and the lower the Away following. I could be wrong but I would doubt if Boro would take 4000 to Reading for example. I doubt that QPR or Brentford would take that many to Reading, but as I say I could be wrong.

We're punching above our weight in terms of what we're prepared to spend on transfer fees or wages, but attendances are ok.

Our support as been unbelievable in terms of circumstances as-well. I dare say. We will overtake reading. Also Swansea will be down to 10k probably next season. Huddersfield do excellent deals fair play. Also their premier league season as invited plastics to go to games which would happen to us aswell

This is why football fonances are obviously messed ip - we’ve got just as many fans but can’t compete on wages. No good reason for it! Level the playing field I say.

Yeah there’s no way Huddersfield have an average attendance to which that figure suggests. Watching their game now and two of the stands are almost empty. As said above it’s obviously the number of tickets sold rather than bodies in the stadium.

Even with their tickets sold I can’t imagine that many people wouldn’t turn up, especially in the stand behind the goal. Seems strange.
