Two very poor teams we were slightly better but a point not good enough had chances couldn't take em needed to sign quality in January at back and up front and didn't its that simple.
Dont worrry dont think about it. We are 99.9,% down. Will take us half a season to catch 8 or 9 pts up.
Totally agree we have some good players in Brown, Woodrow, oduor, Simoes, Chaplin, Mowatt and Styles, if he can play like he did today Is going to be some player, granted we won’t keep all of them if we go down, but it’s better then Wilson’s team for sure.
Its worse.... In my opinion This board sold us down the river before we kicked a ball In anger this season....
Massively this. The irony of it is that we have several very talented and promising young players, but the squad as a whole wasn't fitted out to give it a chance of survival.
We have a great bunch of lads they have never stopped trying from what I have seen but they have been severely let down by messrs Chien Conway et al I was watching Forest last night and it strikes me that we have probably gone about this season all wrong tactically especially under Stendel we should have played much more defensively, protected the back four and played in the break Player for player we aren’t too far away from Forest, it’s how they play and it’s really effective plus the centre back issue has been a total and utter disaster (in both windows) for which the aforementioned need to explain their actions Some of the players under Wilson couldn’t give a f Uck
The football's probably not as bad as that last spell under Danny when he was given a **** show of a squad that Flitcroft had put together and had to bring in anyone & anything. But I think it's more frustrating this season because this squad has been deliberately put together knowing it wouldn't be good enough.
I've always thought if I was given a pot of money to spend with the genuine aim of stabilising the team in the Championship, I'd probably spend every penny of it on the best defenders, goalkeeper and defensive midfielder I could get to come to the club. I'd probably bore everyone senseless and be fired for it but my goal difference wouldn't be -20.
Yep agreed - a really good keeper gets you an extra ten points a season I reckon Davies saved us so many occasions last season - goals change games.
That shitshow of a team in the flitcroft/Wilson season got 39 points - I'm very doubtful this team will get more especially given our away form/fixtures.
I was referring more to the actual performance side tbh....clueless management decisions and an almost complete absence of positive football...the 5-0 away defeat at Huddersfield ( if I remember rightly) was one of the lowest points I can remember in the last twenty years.
My reflections on yesterday. Firstly, I thought it was one of our better performances and we were more than slightly better, the possession stats (59% v 41%?) were an accurate reflection of our superiority imo. Despite that the longer the game went on the more I expected them to get a late winner and so leaving the ground I felt a mix of relief we hadn't lost again (particularly against them) and disappointed and very frustrated we hadn't won. GS' 'boys' undoubtedly left everything on the pitch yesterday, as they usually do. Their goal was again poor from our perspective. Yes, there was an unfortunate bounce but in our desperation to clear we too often get drawn to the ball and leave someone free, as happened yesterday. Having said that, notwithstanding his couple of mistakes including mis-controlling the ball for a throw-in in the first half, the the appalling pass to Oduor towards the end and how he got nudged off the ball down our left resulting in them getting round the back, I thought Andersen was better and I give him credit for that given that he can't be playing with much confidence. Sollbauer wasn't as poor as I expected he would be following reports from Charlton but having seen him twice now I'm not yet seeing why Struber thinks he'll make a big difference. I think we're a better side with Mowatt playing in the role he did yesterday - thought that was his best and most influential game in several weeks. My biggest frustration was the lack of quality in the final third. Numerous times yesterday we got in good wide positions but the final delivery was poor, straight to their keeper, or didn't pick a man out or on a couple of occasions did but the finish wasn't applied. Given how many times we got into good positions we should have created many more scoring opportunities. It again comes down to our inexperience and naivety and my frustration with how this team have been allowed to be so badly resourced continues and grows, even when we give one of our better performances. Aside from a few sides up at the top I think there are a dozen or so pretty average teams this season and more sensible recruitment would've seen us survive comfortably. We won't, we'll continue to fight and pick up a few points here and there but I don't believe it'll be enough and we will be relegated. And we'll have missed a huge opportunity to get established in this division.
Thats how i saw it too WT. We just didnt have the quality to score more than a very avarage team (albeit with 5 changes and poor form) a trick was missed and that kind of mirrors our season.
Player for player, this side is probably better than that Wilson side. But it feels about 100 times worse because of what could have been.
I disagree tbh . This side are not good enough the Wilson side were but couldn’t be arsed with their dead fish eyes .
