    No **** Sherlock I've been saying that since pre-season when we decimated the best defence in L1 last season and replaced it with untried Kids most of whom hadn't been near the English leagues. You had the chance to change it and decided to bring in one of your Austrian mates whose no better despite being much older in fact maybe worse a fact not helped by him being from a third rate foreign league. Just think if we'd been a bit more adventurous this window and brought in two decent centre halves who could defend we may have been ready for the championship then.

    the fans knew it, Stendel knew it, Stuber knows it, every pundit and commentator who watches us points it out, yet the board at no point have seriously addressed it. Incompetence.

    It’s worse than incompetence because that implies they are trying but don’t have the necessary skills. These jokers clearly don’t give two hoots and are only here to buy players on the cheap and sell for a profit, the football is just a by product of the profit machine.

    Although re bringing in his mate he may have just gambled on that due to not being given resources to get the type of player he actually wanted / needed

    We all know it and have done since August. Not impressed with this Sollbauer fella he’s brought in tho. Does plenty of arm waving and pointing but not a lot else. No physical presence about him at all. So many lower league centre halves we could’ve brought in that would have offered more.

    Exactly. We could see this with Schmidt. Hence why it’s fatal our board agreed we would go down this route again. Competitive balance of the championship v austria premier is miles apart. Another failing of our recruitment team.

    I’ve been thinking this myself, and I think you make a great point. GS is trying to bring in folk he knows and will sign for him - Ritz’ and Solb’ wouldn’t have signed without GS present.

    However, we know under GG, we signed a few French lads. And under DM (with his German links) we’re signing more German/Austrian players. We’re trying to tap into the untapped markets. Like Wenger did with France 20 years ago - to great success.

    Problem is, it’s difficult for any player to come into a dog fight, let alone when it’s a new league/country for them.

    Struber wouldn’t have had a clue to what we needed. He’s just signed players he thought could improve us but never considered they aren’t up to playing in this league. Can see why he’s done it. Stendel got it right only player he signed in the first season he knew was Bahre.
