That in this window we’ve managed to actually WEAKEN the defence, how is that even possible from what we had, I’m genuinely amazed.
Commentator said he couldn’t believe Cauley having to come back and defend a corner when two centre backs weren’t marking anybody that was at one nil down and everyone back .
Let’s not forget these are 4th bottom........4th bottom , and we look like a very poor Sunday league side, with a centre half whose come straight from the nightclub to play.
Im surprised that people are surprised. After all we do it everything we get promoted and also in the january window each time in the championship. Its our normal modus operandi
but this time we didn’t have any defenders worth selling, and somehow we’ve managed to buy ones that are worse.
Well the facts say we sold or moved on 3 of the defensive unit including our 2 regular centre halves and a goalie. I agree that we have downgraded. For momentum and experience as a unit alone, we would have had a better start in the championship. Whether or not we would be in a different position is impossible to say, but i would have felt we tried to build and be progressive by adding to what we add. alternatively we should (and never seem to do) shifted the 'young hungry unknown potential' a notch towards this plus 'experienced known championship players'. No model guarantees success but there is a very high risk strategy and one which takes a safer option. We always go high risk and its rarely been a success.
We let Sibbick go, and brought in Sollbauer. What am I missing? Sollbauer looked solid yesterday. Sibbick was the whipping boy on here, he got the run around every time he came on, and now he’s gone he’s suddenly good.
Sibbick got singled out and had unfounded criticism based on a poor defence in general. I thought he'd come good, he seemed to have a lot of composure for a young lad. Solibaker looked OK but didn't really seem to want the ball. Still early days for him.
we sold the 3 you refer to in the summer, I was referring to the January activity, in the fact we didn’t sell any more and the players we brought in made it look worse. I was thinking yesterday about the amount of players brought in by the new regime, must be around 20? and how many of them are either a) first teamers, and b) if they are first teamers are they good enough for the championship - we must have wasted a fortune, the plan seems to be resulting in exactly opposite as to what it’s supposed to?
Yep good observation. They say 50% of signings on average are successful. I would want that to be more personally but we seem to be lower.
We're definitely missing Diaby. Strong in the air and quick. By no means the finished article but we look more vulnerable without him...
