Just looked at web. Is it true we paid £1.08m for Schmidt? Current value showing at £720k. That's not good business. Neither has it done much for the team. I look at the 'young talent' we've invested in, if we're going to play that game then we need to be really confident that our coaching and development team and its supporting set-up is fit for purpose. Sometimes, with the focus on first team results, the underlying infrastructure goes unnoticed - but it's a key factor in moving us forward. It's great having potential but if we want success on the field, it has to be realised. Is there anyone ITK on here willing to give an assessment of where we are on this count?
That million pounds (if thats true) would have been much better spent on wages for 2 experienced players on loans....as most of us were banging on about in the summer. It is yet another perfect example of us bringing in players for profit....this one will not be, based on how much we alledgedly paid for him. I realise our recruitment system is not flawed but we got this one pretty wrong, on those figures.
Not telling me we couldn’t have found 2 players for the same money that couldn’t have offered any less than what he offers us.
We never seem to profit on foreign players in the whole, that’s why the current squad and the recent additions alarm me when these owners come to try and sell them on. I predict loss over profit personally and then where will that leave us?
That's true. The recent success stories we have had are from Leagues One and Two, and even non league.
