Bearing in mind the last two performances: 1. Has there been a blow to morale following Diaby's 'incident'? 2. Were any others of our players tested?
my understanding is the company that are alleged to have supplied him with the performance enhancing drugs are now themselves being investigated under the Trade Descriptions act.
Or shifting the balance of the team by introducing a new player and moving Mowatt about, Or, other clubs figuring out we always play a diamond and instead of being surprised, set up to defeat it. Most likely a combination of all three, Diaby seemed well liked by his team
I think the run was down to them playing with freedom thinking "oh well we're down anyway". When they stuck a few wins together and achieved parity of sorts the pressure was back on. That said, Derby were always going to get their act together, Bristol City are fighting for the play-offs and Preston battered us 5-1 at their place. If we lose tomorrow at Charlton I'd say that would be a nail in the coffin. However, that death nail might spark them playing with freedom again. Fact is I don't think they can handle any sort of pressure.
I think the pressure is telling the last couple of matches as we seem incapable of stringing three passes together, the players look scared to death of making a mistake which then compounds their errors.
They’re only bairns when alls said and done, losing routinely, booed by home fans, berated in social media. Its bound to have an effect on those who actually give a ****. Those who don’t throw the teddy out and **** orf to Hull
Preston was just a complete capitulation from the defence (mainly anderson) which seemed to knock the stuffing out of the team. Dint see Portsmouth so cant comment but they seemed to just score from the usual routes against us. Its a worry that as young players their confidence can be shaken so badly. Doesn't bode well going forward....
Maybe Bristol was the turning point? Yet another game where we had the possession and chances but ultimately weren’t good enough and lost. Putting in that kind of effort every week and still getting turned over can’t be good for morale. I wouldn’t attribute anything to diabys situation. He is a comedic defender that thinks slow but runs fast to make up.
Yeah the bristol game could have gone either way, they had chances before they eventually scored we had some really good chances where it was easier to score. Cant fault the effort from any of the players but like you say when you put all that effort in week in week out and the get beat in the last 10 minutes must knock the teams confidence. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up for tomorrow.
Soul destroying for all concerned, well at least for most of us. I missed millwall so still haven’t seen a away league win. Crewe away started well but we were flattered by the score line in the end, but a wins a win. I’m hopeful for tomorrow, but fear for us if we go a goal behind.
Even when we go a goal up I always expect us to concede our defence is so bad. From.best defence in league one to worst in championship.
Yep, people might disagree, but I’d sooner be in league one if it means seeing some wins and being happier on a Saturday night. There is no joy in getting beat every week just to say we’re a championship club.
No but it's very frustrating that we never built on last season and the obvious mistakes that were made in the summer window the replacements of players like pinnock, lindsay and moore look awful at the minute. Did we really need to sell near on 10million pounds worth of players in one window when we were already getting promotion money etc.
Their timing is terrible. We sold Potts mid season to balance the books, could easily have backfired, it was a tight run in, could have gone either way.
