We are edging closer but teams ahead of us aren't helping our cause. Just wanting it to be in our hands again at long last !
After losing at Middlesbrough one month ago we had 9 points from 18 games and were bottom of the table and 8 points from safety. We are now only goal difference away from climbing out of the bottom 3. A pleasantly surprising upturn indeed. Now whilst I am still not a fan of the owners it does not mean I do not support the players and manager and always wish the best for the lads.
We have got 21 games still to play re- 63 points. The points needed to finish in 21 st place over the past five seasons has fluctuated re- 2014/15 Rotherham 46, 2015/16 Rotherham 49, 2016/17 Forest 51, 2017/18 Bolton 43, 2018/19 Millwall 44. The rounded average over those five seasons is 47 points. We have played 25 games and have got 21 points. Home games yet to play - Huddersfield, Preston, Wednesday, Birmingham, Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Millwall, Blackburn, Wigan, Notts Forest. Away games yet to play - Derby, Bristol City, Charlton, Fulham, Hull, Reading, QPR, Stoke, Luton, Leeds United, Brentford. So where are the points going to come from to ensure our safety.?
There are 3 teams on the same points as us. We can't all go down. Where are their points going to come from? TBH looking at the list of home games, there's nothing there that worries me too much if we can continue improving. And apart from QPR away, we should be able to get some points from those games too. Not in all of them, but I'm optimistic.
Can't see us getting much more than 21 points to be honest. I worked it by taking points from all our games that are six pointers and wins against the mid table sides.
Think we will.have at least a win against a " top side" . My worry is historically we don't seem to beat other struggling sides
That's why I've edged my bets and put them down as draws. I don't think it helps having Huddersfield to be honest as you'd take a point before a ball is kicked in a derby game and where those teams are in the league doesn't help either. I don't think it's any coincidence that our form has picked up against mid table sides.
Despite acquiring 12 points from our last 7 games and taking points home and away against WBA and beating teams in the play off hunt. Big games to come against Derby and Huddersfield.
Think we can get a result at Derby even though we have been in bottom 3 since September something good is happening and I look forward to the next game.
Hey missis Halan lol, Im afraid Ive voted for the 'We wont' option. If we stay up this season, it will be absolutely superb of course. But I dont trust our owners and I think they're just going to sell us out yet again (allegedly of course), in the upcoming January window.
