... But looking at the replays from different angles, whilst hard , was that really a 'red card' tackle?? looked like he got the ball and his foot wasn't even high. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/50875379
Definite red for me. It's a dangerous tackle, he's left his foot in and at one point his entire body is off the ground. In times gone by perhaps it would be seen as fair but, and this is just my opinion, I'm glad it's now a red card offence. No need for it.
That's a very philosophical question. There's really only you who can know if it is you. Cogito ergo sum It's a bit too early after a plate of bacon, eggs, mushrooms and toast to go too deeply into it but can we discuss it later.
Definitely got the ball. But deliberately followed through to kick the opposition. He knew exactly what he was doing and wasn't surprised in the slightest when he was sent off.
When you go in showing a full set of studs, off the ground with no control re stopping it’s got to be red
Great challenge, got the ball, hardly touched the player (who got up very easily after). It used to be a mans game, now one of the reasons i don't watch football anymore (apart from the Reds)
Foot was high and he got up and never looked at the player he’d just walloped. More than a spirited tackle that was a fook off tablet. If that had been dished out to one of our players we’d have rightly gone mad at it. Mind you the ref would have waived play on and the lino wouldnt have seen it.
In todays game.....they are reds all day long...apparently hardly matters he got the ball first....i think "intent" of a dangerous or out of control tackle, is what refs adhere to.
That's what officials sometimes miss. Intent. This ref got it spot on, the intent was clear. Brown got sent off last year for a high foot, McGeehan suspended for a "stamp". But the intent to injure an opponent was clearly absent. Dangerous play and dangerous play with intent are different. The former deserves a caution, the latter a suspension and fine.
It was a red. He saw an opportunity to clear the opposition out but make it look innocent "I got the ball" yeah sure mate, you could have lumped that into row z and now scythed the winger down at the same tie.
