..... feel free to ask your own but today, I’m asking, whatever happened to Treadles Wine bar and Castaways? Always a strange sight for my Uni mates, that. A bar packed full of northern blokes sipping fruit/wine drinks. Wasn’t the owner a big Reds fan?
You can still get it apparently. The orange one tasted like pish... https://www.amazon.co.uk/MD-20-Oran...4&keywords=mad+dog+2020&qid=1575649846&sr=8-1
My 21st involved a lot of Blastaways in the house before venturing to the local nightclub. It ended around midnight as I splatter-painted the toilets, dancefloor, bar, staircase downstairs, the bouncers, the outside of the taxi and the garden just outside the front door. Never was able to drink diamond white again.
Think the owner was Paul McNicholas. Treadles used to get good trade off the players, and was one of the first stops on Thursday evenings after Yates' with hospital colleagues.
It was owned by Paul MacNicolas. He went bankrupt about ten years ago from memory over a unpaid loan. Cant recall the exact details. Took the Cons club or part of it on then eventually ended up taking over odwyers again and refurbing it. Him and his missus have taken the lease over in one of the old Pollyanna buildings and turning it into a Champagne bar. Naturally, itll still serve John Smiths Smooth.
