What an offer by Labour. That should make an Early Bird in the Ponty £210!

They’ve promised to implement it from January too, just in time for a half season ticket.

what’s the point of anything eh? People... trying to make other people’s lives better... wherever next.

you are voting for Farage and you have the temerity to call someone else a muppet. You’ve been conned mate, you’ve been sold a dud and you are too stupid to realise. Don’t like being called stupid? Then don’t make stupid statements.

The railways are full to capacity by reducing fares is only going to make this worse any political party that gets into power needs to increase the capacity of the railways before reducing the fares

More people using trains is more revenue to invest in public transport and associated growth and less traffic on the roads.

So based on your original complaint I guess the solution to overcrowding on the trains is to make the tickets twice as expensive ... like it ;)
It seems to have worked with the house prices (doubled the people living on the streets ... but that's their fault I guess. Anyway, why should we care ).

I like your thinking ... so many of the problems of today could be solved by hiking up prices.
NHS waiting lists ... lets go insurance based healthcare ... if people really needed it they'd find the money ... stop the time wasters in their tracks.
Dental Care ... lets make it so expensive that most can't afford it ... insufficient dentists ... problem solved

You’re being sarcastic but there’s no way they don’t agree with every word you just wrote.

The funny thing is, I bet he disagrees with it all, but is too stupid to realise that Farage wants to do all that.

Worrying how some people wear their ignorance as a badge of honour. Sadly, there's plenty in Barnsley like John Coucom who do just that.

Anything is better than now. Take the Penistone Line for example. They have started work to expand many of the platforms on the line to fit the new trains on. This is something they should have done before the trains arrived. Instead you have people wishing we still had the 40 year old pacer trains rather than the brand new trains, as those could fit three carriages to a platform and the new ones with more leg room and tables can only fit two, so their is less seats than before.

Or how they have retired the pacer trains when only 30 odd of 100 and odd of the new delayed trains have arrived to Northern. So you get trains cancelled due to lack of carriages/trains when they should have kept the pacers until all the new trains arrived.

More investment more carriages. Less traffic on the roads less pollution. Less jams. Muppet. Are you Waldorf.
The wonderful MT took away cheap fares in South Yorkshire saying private control would improve competition and cheaper fares. Over public control. Wonderful how that’s worked out. Everybody in cars and older folk stood at bus stops wondering when the next bus is coming. Labour to be honest should have reversed those decisions years ago. But didn’t want to upset middle England voters. At least Corbyn is attempting to put this on the agenda as a contribution to environmental issues. Hope that helps

I’m not saying it’s not a good idea but the infrastructure needs sorting first to cope with the increase that cheaper fares will bring

That is what HS2 is meant to do. Remove high speed traffic from the current lines so that we can get more trains on those lines.

If all fast trains from London to Leeds went via HS2, then there would be up to 8 extra slots per hour (4 KGX via DON, 4 STP via SHF) for other trains to run on the current lines.
