There's a lot truth in that. Football, in fact all sport is played in the head first and on the field second. How many players do we all know with massive ability that failed to reach their potential because they couldn't sort their heads out?

Didnt johnson bring in a psychologist when our young team went through similar motions in league one? Then we brought in kevin long and hammil too and the rest is history. Mawson became a revelation at the back, the fans and spirits were lifted with hammil and we started winning games and never looked back. Or have i got some of that wrong?

    Absolutely.

It’s a mental thing at the moment.

If you listen to Undr The Cosh podcasts, a lot of players say the same - not always the ability, but the togetherness and belief.

It was striking to see Ian Wright’s reaction the other night when that Irish comedian took a break instead of washing up- you could tell Wright had the team ethic - no one slacks off in his mind. That’s why he was a winner and Cavare will be playing in the Turkish second division in a year.

It’s more than just a mental thing, it’s sheer inexperience which is costing us time and time again. It comes down to decision making and it takes the experience of 50 or so games to start to get to some consistency and better decisions.
We also have players who are clearly now not up to it at this level e.g. Cavare.

If we had a better balance of experience in the squad but were still losing games then I could be convinced it’s a mental problem but that isn’t the root of our issues as we all know .

Struber doesn’t know how to deal with this situation. He only took over from the previous boss who guided the team of players to 3rd in the league at the end of last season. By comparison he’s Hecky after taking LJ’s team. He’s out of his depth, he’s never built a squad or dealt with a team in difficult position until now. Let’s hope he can swim.
