Aye alright was merely an assertive signal that I disagreed. As for "Dismissive and aggressive" Really??

I apologise if you felt it was such but, come on, in hindsight do you really think it warranted the response of calling someone a "complete dick"?

Back to the original topic I think that, unless the new man is able to do it, the priority should be the employment (can be done on a consultancy basis) of a defensive guru - there must be some out there.
Stating the obvious you cannot expect the forwards to be scoring 4 or 5 goals to win a game.
    January will be too late!

My opinion is and continues to be that we should speak to people on here as we would if we were talking in the pub. When that doesn't happen I'm fine with giving it back both barrels. Invariably that leads to the aggressors claiming to be victims without any acknowledgement at all of their own bad behaviour.

Having said that, you've apologised and I accept that and in turn apologise for calling you names.

On the point in hand, Bahre didn't play the attacking midfield role yesterday, that was Woodrow. He was a midfielder. I don't expect him to be able to tackle, that's not his game, but he was with Downing when Downing made the pass, so at that point he was his man. Downing moved to the edge of the area and Bahre simply let him go. Bahre didn't do anything else, he didn't pick up another player or chase down the ball, he took up a position where he could have no influence on the game. Defending is not just the remit of the four defenders, it's the whole team, and on this occasion all Bahre had to do was follow his man and take up a position where he could be effective. He didn't, it cost us a goal and he does it a lot.

Whilst I lived in Barnsley for many years from age of 13 and married a Barnsley girl I was born in London,(boo!) lived in Lanacashire (Blackpool Boo hoo!) never really got the hang of the subtlety and innuendo of Barnsley dialect and language. 'Eeyup' being one of those that has several meanings depending on how it is spoken. Even now my wife occasionally comes out with a new phrase I have never heard. I was unaware that 'Aye alright' WAS aggressive and likely to upset as I have seen it used on a number of occasions so apologies once again.

I still feel that you might be on sticky ground (unless you are built like a sh*t brickhouse) calling someone you hardly know a "complete dick" though.:) Anyway, On the main original topic, as I said my knowledge of tactics is limited so I accept your explanation highlighting Bahre's shortcomings re defensive duties. I still think he is an exciting skilful player to watch and one of the few capable of unlocking defences with a killer pass. He is still you and learning so hopefully he will learn and work harder on the defensive/tracking back stuff too.

Granted. Mowatt already had Championship experience when he joined us. However, he needed a full season out on loan (plus a promotion season in league 1 to integrate himself back into the team).

Sadly, these lads aren’t afforded that luxury. They are at a level where almost every mistake has been ruthlessly punished. I don’t particularly feel they are terrible footballers, but they are on a steep learning curve.

Blackburn didn’t have to play particularly well to beat us. That’s extremely alarming.
