"Ah hello Mr Conway, regarding Saturday, if only we'd got some experienced defenders.... " (fill in the following gap as necessary....) "......................"
Struber saying we played well but need to learn from mistakes that’s the big problem mate we don’t learn.
Young inexperienced players tend to make more mistakes and are more inconsistent. We have a squad full of them.
I'm not criticising Struber, he's still new here, but how many types of defensive mistakes are there? Poor marking. Ball watching. Not picking up runners. Not tracking back fast enough. Failing to clear the ball. Sloppy tackling in the box. Passing to the opposition. Goalkeeping mistakes. Have I missed any? Why can't we manage 90 minutes without committing some of those errors? I know sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition, but we're making some average sides look great.
He'd better not use the word "experience" to our board. We know what happens when people use that word.
First thing is to introduce the defence to each other . Give em a few minutes to get to know each other.
The same mistakes they've been making since August and still no sign of improvement. I hope his media training was good; I think he's going to get fed up of saying the same thing.
When I was managing in the North Berks League, I would sometimes tell the team to look at the shirts we were wearing and make sure they pass to a player who has the same colour shirt. Sometimes they did just that.
How about saying "players that have played many more games successfully at this level than any of the current squad"
Thanks for spotting my deliberate mistake Troff. I watch that programme every week. Shame on me for getting the two mixed up.
