Am I in the naughty corner if I suggest that our owners were astute in finding Stendel to get us automatically promoted last season (no mean feat), but have simply miscalculated the extent to which their youth policy and scouting/spreadsheet system might work in a division higher? And that they will do their best to remedy the situation, starting with the appointment of our new coach who should be given the chance to see what he can do? And that we should back the new coach to the hilt, and not at this stage continue to gripe and groan and undermine our team and club and say we're not turning up anymore, and instead get on with supporting us at the Well like we've always done? And if I suggest that Stendel's departure might not necessarily be black and white in terms of "blame", and thus might explain the brevity of official comment upon it? And if I further suggest that there is no evidence for the premise that our owners have made any money whatsoever from our club? And if I (further further) suggest that anyway, all things being equal, we're not far off the usual position in this division that we've occupied over most of the last years that most of us can remember, apart from when we've been in a division lower anyway? And if I believe that we all share the same dream, and that it can be a wet one starting at 3pm tomorrow?
We all hope Struber succeeds but what another massive gamble by the Board. No real consistent record of success (inherited a successful team in Wolfsberger). What i’ll be interested in seeing is the Culture Shock!! No, not coming to Barnsley - though that might shock quite a few. I mean going from managing the oldest most experienced team in Austria to the youngest in England. Good luck with that one.
Erm can’t remember us being 5 points from safety ever in mid-November in this league tbh. So yes, they’ve massively miscalculated this league which seems surprising given their six months prior experience of our previous relegation from the championship to which they themselves oversaw.
Absolutely no reason for silence and sheer contempt to the fans. As has been said above until they show in January that they 'care' about the football club and not just the saleable assets then they will be met with alot of hostility and questions from us. As for the new head coach, i will back him 100% and hope he is a success! But i dont want to see a puppet with scripted answers in press conferences, if its s hit i want him to say it how it is.
Genuinely, does anyone really give a hoot about the silence when none of us actually know what’s occurred? I certainly couldn’t give a rats. People have their own reasons for doing what they do
Suppose it depends on what you want or expect from the club, i for one just feel the silence and lack of communication not just on the Stendel incident but in general just disconnects us as fans, a club that has always been a community club and something they said when they took over that they wanted to continue and build the rapport with the town.
