    I thought Bassett just didnt want to continue with the reduced budget. There wasn’t anything more sinister than that was there?

    Maybe not, but most of the mangers we have had there was an obvious end to their tenure. Bassett was technically sacked, as I understand it & as far as we know DS was too, although in the later's case we only have a "separation". All the other managers we have had put in some great work, but I could see a reason for their departure at the time. Bassett's style of play wasn't too popular with some fans, although I thought we played some superb football under his tenure.

    Me too, we came so close to returning to the Premier League. The main criticism I had of him was Keith Brown but overall his time with us was good.

    Still shaking my head at Brown's attempt to play Reuser offside in the playoff final, whilst he was in the Ipswich half. If we'd have retained De Zeeuw I think we'd have gone up automatically. But it was a fantastic season.
