I’m surprised he never continued managing. He was a steady manager in my opinion. Very liked by our fan base when he was sacked he had his name chanted once live on sky and he got emotional saying he wished he was still with us.
He did continue managing. A few months after he was sacked at Barnsley, Huddersfield appointed him as their manager. He was relieved of his duties 12 months later.
If you listen to any of the players who played for him in that team there wasn't much technical coaching going on. No shape etc. Just played a lot of 5 a side but the right blend of players (and culture) and good overall man-management.

Richie had the players at that time jumping thru hoops for him. I was working at the club in conferance suite and bumped into him very nice unasuming bloke. His sidekick physio could tell a tale or two . Rick Holden.
Always liked Ritchie and Holden. Never a dull moment and true we’re gonna score one more than you stuff. Thought he was hard done by and agree that it’s surprising AR didn’t stick at it for longer as a manager.
