I felt similar to this after Danny Wilson was sacked and to be fair it turned out to be the correct decision. So who knows?!
Win a few games, and stay in the league. We’ll always remember Stendel fondly, but the cloud of doom would quickly shift if things picked up on the pitch.
It's possible to support the club and not the actions and behaviours of the owners. The OP asked whether the consortium who own the club can recover from this, not whether we suddenly decide we don't support Barnsley anymore. In my opinion, they have an incredible amount of answering to do, not just for the decisions they've taken but for the way they've gone about it in seemingly throwing an honest man, adored by the fans and doing his best under the bus with a distasteful lack of respect. That goes deeper than fortunes on the pitch (which are dire anyway) for me. And the winning games to forget it bit isn't gonna come is it, let's be reyt?
Same. I still don't think many realise how disrespectful it is to the 132-year heritage of the club for investors who had been involved 18 months to claim the transfer window was 'the most successful in the club's history' as an exercise in hype and marketing hyperbole. The fanbase will ALWAYS be the only people justified to measure events in the context of the club's history.
So the new guy has the same group to work with from his appointment until January. Can you see any drastic change from now until then? And what if come January they do decide to tweak "The plan" wouldn't that be a massive slap in the face and insult to Stendel and all his previous hard work?
The new guy wouldn't have to do that much. I love the pessimism and arrogance of people that thinks its the impossible job. 3-5-2 players playing in their correct positions would be a start and if said player is injured pick from the bench. If not the bench the under 23's.
Your right results are all that really matter in the end. Shame that wasn't the worry when we were signing players. Also even if we shot up the league and got promoted I would still say the horrible 2 sentence sacking of a wonderful man like Stendel is disgusting.
Have I missed summat? I've not seen any confirmation that he has been sacked by the board. He could equally have resigned.. Stark difference. Either way the club need to enlighten us and to the reason behind the departure. If he has been sacked. I would instantly refer the CEO to the last fans forum where the question was put to him and he seemingly agreed that it should be the recruitment team who the blame fell on and not the head coach.
I remember the fans singing “sack the board” towards the end of the season before promotion to the premier league. Don’t remember many singing it the following May....
No. Even if we win games we know its only a matter of time before we sell our best players and make the new managers job untenable before sacking him.
