We have some excellent Championship level players - and a manager that will do well in the Championship, and could do well in the Premier. I’ve been saying it for years that during the Patrick Cryne era nothing was being built on the field - or off it. Unfortunately he just didn’t have the money to do what was needed - and he said that himself on many occasion. We now have new owners that have just started to rebuild the club. The players brought in during the summer are the foundations of that rebuild. As time goes by - other players will be added to the squad. As Simon Davey said at a fans meeting - “it’s usually about a third of all new signings that dosen’t work”. So we are left with these players until we get to another transfer window. In the longer term the club will come good - in the meantime the start of the journey is likely to be rocky.
i agree to an extent but if we go down i think that is game over and i think the present owners will pull out very fast
So - you believe that these new owners, some of which are worth £billions, have put their precious time, effort and money into obtaining the club, will just walk away if we get relegated. Think again.
Lol I hope he sees sense and Jack's, stendel hasn't done much wrong for me apart from making bahre captain. After we got hammered by sheffield united in that freindly he said we needed some players who have played in the championship before he got none. If he was to leave I cant imagine many decent experienced managers would be wanting to come and work with a group of kids who aren't upto it. Mick McCarthy would get mentioned and we would end up with dale younger.
Nudge you are right, I hate to use a NFL example about boom and bust, but usually if you hit on half your drafts you are doing well. Our additions we akin to untested rookie college picks, young and untested at this level. We added over 10 new faces, it takes time to gel, we need some experience. The team is crying out for 3 new old heads. It's then a case of survival of the fittest for the new recruits. Stendel needs to change system, but not ethos. We need to be hard to beat, and work from there. The old heads must be 'all in' no Lita, Shea's et al.
If we do get relegated - then we will have a team of better players in the 1st Division than what we had last season. But it’s not always the best players that gets promoted.
We still need some experience mixed in with the new recruits... Mcshane would suit and organise things
We'll probably sell any of them that shows any promise. Half of these won't be here if we get relegated. Clubs in league one will offer them more money and off they'll go, to be replaced by one legged dwarfs and a juggler with potential.
