Must be some kind of masochist! Just said Lee Johnson is the longest serving manager in the championship.
We seem to be playing a formation that requires better/experienced players . Time to play to our strengths and hopefully keep in reach till January and imo that’s our only hope.
Perhaps we should have kept hold of our better players not caved in at the first chance to sell them. We have a very naive board.
I’ve watched the highlights on sky and the defending is horrible. The first, Ben Williams isn’t even on camera when the ball is played into their striker coming in from the right. Our full backs bomb up so much and we’re always so exposed. Second goal, Jordan Williams losing the ball on the half way line they play it forward and again, Ben Williams is nowhere. Third and fourth Halme was blitzed by pace and looked painfully slow. As if Ben Pearson scored against us ffs. The fifth was dallying around and I feel like Collins could’ve been stronger maybe. When we were all naming our team for Preston on here I said I’d have kept Mads in because, even though he was poor against Derby, I feel like we need to get a consistent back four going. We need to stop changing it every game so they can all get used to each other and communicate much better than what they are currently doing. We need to stop with this “full back bombing up” tactic that we seem to have because it’s not working. It’s still early in the season and I’ve already seen both Jordan and Ben Williams dive in on opposition players on the half way line leaving us massively exposed, particularly when our centre backs and centre mids aren’t exactly blessed with bags of pace. It’s possibly a lot of pressure on him but I’m hoping Kenny Dougall will be fit enough after the international break and make us more solid.
i am not sure it is we will be faced with exactly the same problems only these will be exacerbated with it being halfway through the season. our wage cap immediately wipes out a high percentage of players willing to come to Barnsley according to the investors comments coming out of club, players have to sign a relegation clause. So players will have to sign a contract and in a few months time if relegated they will be transfer listed or wages cut in half or more. players are not going to be queuing up to sign on to these terms and conditions which means you are probably left with young players from further down the leagues and players who are out of favour out of form with there clubs and so called injury prone players players looking for a way back in. probably not a good idea to pin your hopes on January miracles
Don’t need miracles imo . I’ve seen enough to suggest we can hold our own with not much addition . We played well and matched Leeds,Fulham, and either stupid mistakes or naivety against Wendy, and Brum . Both games I think we could have got something from . If we can keep in touch and make the right signings in Jan I think we have a chance . We not as bad as today suggests imo and it’s hard to make a case when your goalkeepers man of the match in a 5-1 defeat .
Well you could argue that but our better players aren’t pulling any trees up in same div for others. Only thing I can think is we MIGHT not have as many goals against .MIGHT
Quest seem to be laying the blame with Halme, but he’s the only one that’s attempting to defend from what I can see. Sibbick out of position for every goal, and the fullbacks aren’t to be seen for any. We really need to try something new.
We need Diaby & Anderson back as the centre back pairing. Played well together early season. I'm not a fan of the Williams's so would revert back to Pinillos & Cavare or even give Jordan Green a go at right back. Could do with Dougall in front of back 4 as well. Not sure why Wilkes isn't starting, he's the only winger that has any strength. I'd play Collins, Cavare, Diaby, Anderson Pinillos, Dougall, Mowatt, McGeehan, Wilkes, Bahre and Woodrow. Only 4 changes from last seasons great team.
