I’d be interested to know why Cavare’s getting the blame over Anderson. I don’t know who’s more at fault out of the two but when all 3 goals have come from a player getting in between you both unmarked there’s a massive communication issue.

Williams was also poor but at least he has an excuse that he shouldn’t be playing left back, everyone knew Pinillos isn’t fast enough for this level yet we’re now in a position 10 games into the season where we’re playing players out of position over him as he’s that slow

Let's be right you have had a thing about cavare for some time.
When you have got William's out of position getting skinned every 5 minutes letting players whip balls in with the freedom of barnsley it makes it hard for anyone to defend it.

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet but the first goal of their today. Cavare was in the middle of the box (god knows why) just stood about when his defensive line is 5 yard up the field. He’s playing on their lad who put in the cross. I’ve no idea what the hell he was doing, clearly had that can’t be arsed head on and Stendel probably wishes he had the option on the bench to drag him for that goal alone.

I like dimi and was one of those praying for him to be put back into the starting 11. But if his attitude is like that in a competitive game just imagine what he’s like in training. The lad is doing what we all dreamed of as young ens and he’s pissing it up the wall. I’ve no time in life for people with that attitude and I’m not surprised he’s left out as much as he is.

Just watch the goals back and comment on Cavarés part in each of them.

And I don’t have any ‘thing’ about Cavaré. He has many attributes... that he repeatedly chooses not to use.

I've backed Cavare this season and in a number of games he's been one of our better performers but objectively, and taken on its own, his performance yesterday was diabolical defensively. At fault, with others, arguably for all three goals.

I've just watched the third goal and seen Watkins sprint half the length of the pitch to be on the end of the cross whilst DC waddles ten yards watching Watkins go past him to tap in an open goal - truly shocking and reminiscent of Tom Kennedy in the relegation game at Middlesborough.

I'm afraid that Cavare needs to get the attitude and fitness to match his undoubted talents and physical strength, otherwise he will never reach his potential.

Just watch the goals back they all come from the same wing, ollie Watkins was playing striker like django has already said let's talk about mads Anderson's part in each of them?

So Cavare wasn't at fault for any of them, and the rest of his play wasn't erratic, his attacking "efforts" weren't woeful and he didn't put pressure on his fellow players by giving the ball away or trying to juggle the ball on a whim?

It was a poor performance by everyone but Woodrow and Mowatt for me. To refuse to criticise that performance by Cavare is just odd.

He was one of the few players trying to get the ball forward, i agree mowatt and Woodrow best of a bad bunch. The only time mads anderson hit a red shirt was passing the ball back to collins, I wont even get into William's contribution.
I'm not saying he was blameless but he wasnt solely to blame for any of them no. Look at where the center half are on the goals especially anderson, look at how easy the crosses come in from the left. And the 2nd do you not think collins misjudged the cross it was right under his post?
If the crosses had come from the right cavare gets the blame if their left winger scores cavare gets the blame.

Yes he was he at fault, certainly the 3rd. Williams was awful today though and leaving a young lad out there like that was not good management in my humble opinion.
The centre backs also massively at fault too, the fact is the defence was a shambles today. Its rather a depressing thought that Carvare is the best full back at the club, but he is.
I agree he was awful today, but Williams was worse, yes William's is iut of postion. But again that just shows the shambolic mess we are in. A pit of postion young lad is a better option than the left back we have on the bench

I don't think he was solely to blame, but he had a disaster of a game. That he was a key contributor in all 3 goals is telling. and seeing as his "attempts to get forward" are chiefly why the coach says he can't be trusted is telling.

He's big, yes, strong, yes, fast.... yes-ish. But all those are pointless if you don't do your job. All 3 goals could have been avoided if he'd simply been in his natural defensive starting position... let alone the disgraceful typical stroll back. The second goal in particular, he basically looks at Collins and goes, you can deal with that, I can't be arsed.

If Cavare was either Wiseman or Kennedy, I hate to imagine the dogs abuse he'd be getting.

But anyway, he won't change, time has shown that so I suspect with Ben Williams back, he's likely to be dropped from the squad again.

Maybe it's worth watching the goals back and commenting on every Barnsley player's part in each of them. There will be 33 comments and not a single positive amongst them.

Have to give credit for Woodrows ability to finish. And Mowatt showed some decent ability (though our movement and movement of the ball can be very pedestrian, some of which he's involved in).

The galling thing, as bad as we are, and as easy to play against as we are, and as devoid of idea as we are, and as incapable of taking a dangerous set piece as we are... we could still quite easily have had 3 goals today. A faster ball through for Woodrow to score and Chaplins "open net".

We deserved to concede 6 or 7 mind you.

Always does, opposition managers don't have to do too much research to exploit our biggest weakness.

It was the equaliser that killed us. Not just in terms of the scoreline but how it came about. Had it just been a well worked goal by Brentford it would have been shrugged off but it came at a time when we were pressing for a second and well on top and from an open goal and powder puff set piece. You could see from Chaplin's facial expression after the miss that his head had gone down. He knew he'd just spunked the game away.

First half should have either ended 2-0 to us or 2-1 to them. If your striker receives the ball in the penalty area and the opposition keeper isn't in that penalty area your team scores. We didn't. That's probably down to our striker being signed from the bench of a league 1 team. We score that and they don't get their equaliser.
We didn't, they did, but went on to miss just as good an opportunity in the ping pong episode.
Second half they could have had half a dozen and played at a canter.
Mowatt is our best player, in terms of both skill and application, but compared to the midfield players he's up against in this division looks like he's running through treacle. His lack of pace, that was barely noticeable last season, is stark.
Woodrow is a good striker, but gets bored from lack of service and drops into midfield. We want him on the shoulder of the last defender, but Schmidt tried that and touched the ball once in half an hour. Woodrow wouldn't get any more touches if he did the same.
Our manager isn't taking the quality of the opposition into account or the quality of his own squad and is sending lambs to the slaughter.
    It's a mess.

There was an unjustified clamour for his return a while back, I hope yesterday's performance has put paid to that - Ben Williams all the way for me - he might be a bit rough around the edges and needs to learn when to stay on his feet but he's more committed to the cause then Cavare and gets back - As Grant McCann said last season about Cavare - he's good at running forward but not so good at running back.

Once I saw Woodrow coming into our half to pick the ball up I knew it was game over.

Out of interest would you play ben William's on one side and jordan on the other because if the weather is **** again and I see jordan William's name in the 11 I will be tempted to leave the season ticket in the draw. I'm suprised how much stick cavare is getting for not picking up their center forward but mads anderson appears to have gone unnoticed.

There was a thread the other day on about lindsay not been rated at stoke and people commenting on how he is a league one player, him and pinnock are both better than what I saw yesterday.

1st Goal - Cavare was in the middle - he just stood there though rather than move towards our goal - it might be reasonable to assume if you were playing with him that he was going to do something other than stand and admire the free header.
2nd Goal - again, he was the nearest player - just let him get infront and score.
3rd Goal - both centre halves had a player - Anderson was picking up their nos 10 and moved (too late) when it was clear that Cavare AGAIN was admiring the action from the edge of the box.
I'd play Pinilos at left back - he might not have the pace, but he can defend/tackle.
