Just had a look through all our home championship results since the opening game of the 2016/17 season, up to today. At Oakwell in that time we've been awarded ONE penalty, which Winnall missed vs Bristol City in October 2016. In that same period away teams have been given TWELVE penalties. Pretty conclusive proof that these things don't "Even themselves out".
There have been numerous situations in that timeframe where we should have been awarded a penalty. To me, it looks like a penalty is given against us if we do much as look at an opponent funny! I know some people hate the thought of VAR but, for me, we need it asap
VAR isn't really necessary, just better officials. Some of the penalties we should have been awarded that weren't given didn't need VAR.
