Just give our head coach a fighting chance. He has been given players that *at present* wouldn't even get in last season's L1 team. He's banged on all summer about bringing in some experience and the owners have just stuck to the spreadsheet. Even if we had brought in a couple of experienced players to help and nurture the young players then that would have been huge IMO. We're all hoping that things turn around quickly in terms of performances and results but I'm worried we could end up a yo yo club between L1 and the championship if the 'plan' is not tweaked. For now let's see where we're at after 10/12 matches as that should be a good indication of how the season will go. 3 points next weekend at the DW stadium would be a huge lift for everyone before the international break.
Become a yoyo club...... We already are to be honest. In my opinion the only reason we have dished out 4 year contracts is that we go down... come back up and at least have 2 years still on contracts to sell rather than walk. It's the only improvement that seems to have been made. But on this team I can see us going straight back down. But not back up. It's awful.
Agreed with you pal and yes all we currently are is a yo yo club between L1 and the championship. Should have worded my initial post better but the point I was trying to make is that all we will ever be is this same yo yo club if the plan is not tweaked. These owners are just interested in a quick buck.
No worries mate. I thought what you meant is that what we would become. We have been for the last what, 10/15 years. We all thought this would be a new age. But other than putting money from what we raised rather than being too cautious (No disrespect meant to PC). I can't see us progressing beyond the yoyo. One thing is clear. It's been a struggle to get my kid to attend. He was as frustrated as anyone today. And if they want to entice and keep new fans, they need to do better. I know now it's going to be tough to get the young one in and keep interested this season. And that's the future of our club!
Last year was a bad season to start kids off as a Barnsley football fan imo cos they got too used to seeing us win. Most of my seasons watching Barnsley we have lost more than we've won!
My kids first season was The flitcroft season great escape. Passionate as anyone cheering us on. I must give him more credit because I have rose tinted specs most the time. (Irrespective of how I may come across on here) He's now 13. And all he says is what's the point no matter how hard i try to convince him We are about to become something different. He doesn't believe me and I can't blame him.
Mine's nearly 13 and is just a constant commentary on tactics lol! Took his time to start going but really into it now.
