Bolton Wanderers have postponed Tuesday's League One match against Doncaster Rovers, amid welfare concerns for their young squad. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49399958
Okaaay .....so thats another 3 point deduction plus the two games from the back of last season so thats errrrrrrr 3 plus 3 plus new 3 .....i make that 9 points. Hope we are all keeping count!!
This is now getting ridiculous. Sanctions for games not played last season still not applied. Bolton continue to take the mickey. Any sanctions that do get applied this season are fairly irrelevant already as it's pretty obvious they're going to be relegated. The only clubs that are actually going to suffer from decisions like this are teams like Donny who will have their own fixture pile up later on through no fault of their own.
With this in mind and the squad they had how were they even allowed to start the season? Should have the same sanctions against them as Bury have been given.
I hope Donny sue them for loss of earnings from all the programmes printed, food that won't be fresh, fixture pile up etc.
it was supposed to be at bolton, but guess a few pikeys will be out of pocket on non refundable travel arrangements
Also, I don't imagine the same generous latitude being applied to any of the "less historic" clubs such as, well, us.
it's like a tv soap opera now feel for their fans in a way, 2k away on saturday, but then i think back to the end of our last championship season, no commiseration from them then, they've bent & broke the rules that long, i'd reckon they've been well over spending since promotion with us all those years ago, afraid it's time to regroup in non-league, also not fair on the rest of the league 1 teams/fans too
Just that "not fair on all the others". Rules are only rules as long as we ALL adhere to them, they have been playing an unfair rule book, to gain an advantage. Sorry fans of Bolton but they should have to start all over.
for the Bolton and Bury fans I have feelings... I remember us in admin, I remember standing doing bucket collections..... I remember sneakily printing forms in our admin office at work to help the cause. Its not nice and it hurts deeply, to that end I feel for the fans. Its the grabbing bastad owners/agents etc that I have no feeling for at all.
Feel a bit more sorry for Bury, as I think they will fold & Bolton will get a rescue package. Bury are f-cked as far as I see it. The **** who bought the club for a pound has put the nail in the coffin. They are a really old club too, with lots of great fans, their problem, like Stockport & a lot of clubs round there are that since the Premier League days, is that all the locals support one of the big 2. (Man Utd for Bury, Man City for Stockport, in the past these clubs would get a better share of money & some fans would watch both, but ticket prices now rule that out). Bolton have a lot of recent success, until they thought they were better than Allerdyce, and then have been a basket case club, overspending & quite recently to our expense staying up flouting FFP. They have some good fans too, but need to be made an example of. Fairest thing would be to kick both out & promote one more from L2 & relegate one less from the Championship this season. I do feel for the genuine fans of both clubs & their suppliers & staff.
I wonder what the impact on attendances was from increasing prices so much that you put off the ' second team ' brigade. My grandad and uncles apparently used to go to the football pretty much every Saturday - they were Man City fans but must have put pretty much the same through Oldham's gates.
Bury going bust could be the first of many. If there's a sudden loss of confidence the investors may start running for the hills. Only the solvent will survive. Us, for example.
