with the intro of VAR I really hope Shearer is one of the co-hosts. He is a massive fan of VAR.

For me, VAR spoils the game . Referee and linesman errors served to promote
lengthy fan discussion both in the pub and the workplace.

Having said that, some of the more glaring human errors could be annoying especially if it
caused a disadvantage to your particular team.

Love it or hate it , it appears that it's here to stay, so I suppose we will have to get used to it.

I don’t think Var should be used to determine someone’s finger nail was off side.

Wolves goal ruled out by VAR for accidental hand ball during build up. Apparently goals will be disallowed for any hand ball.

If this is correct why not give a penalty for any hand ball??

VAR could be great and could really enhance the game, unfortunately it is a system that will be implemented and managed by the same bunch of chumps that couldn't run the game before VAR.

It's based on someone else's opinion. What if the video referee is a biased twa t?

It was used to determine if there was a foul 15 seconds before a goal. That for me is the refs domain. I think it should be used for penalty and offside decisions.

The process is so slow. Live coverage shows a replay from the best angles and enough evidence to determine if the goal should stand or not in significantly less time than the decision is made.

Plus they have the decision on a screen, why make a drama of it? Just have a whisper in the refs ear.

I can't remember which match it was on MOTD when the lino gave offside when a defender slipped. He got some right abuse, then VAR backed him. I bet he felt relieved when that happened. But using it when offside had been given at the time is dangerous because the players will switch off. Surely they couldn't given a goal if the decision was wrong and players switches off?

That would look good at Oakwell, the ref trying to make out anything on there.

It should be the ref or linesman who decides to have a look. Like in rugby. If ref isn’t sure if it’s a pen he should say can you take a look at that please. Same with the Lino for offside. If they are confident they got it right then so be it. The way it’s going you may as well take the ref away, let them play and just blow a hooter when some blokes sat in a room with videos see an infringement

Its opened up the question, why have referees and officials on the pitch? I mean think of how little time wasting there would be if players didn't have someone to argue with! ;-)
