I fully expected us to have zero points so we're already ahead of the game in my book. We played well against Fulham. There was no luck. For every goal they might have scored we could point to one we could have notched. I'm not predicting winning the league based on that. I'm not predicting anything at all other than I fully expect us to lose tomorrow either fair and square or by the usual Wednesday slice of luck. So, if we do lose, is it at all possible that we can all treat defeat with equanimity rather than going into a Kenneth Williams style meltdown?
I’m in front with my expectations of the first two games already . I was hoping but not expecting a point against Fulham and naff all tomorrow. The three points on Saturday has made me hopeful we may get something at Wendy but feet firmly on terra firma knowing our bad luck there.
Most refs are same against us tbh . I lost count how many times they fouled our players especially Wilkes on Saturday and the very first dubious tackle by us the card was out .
I will never ever forget Willard, I don't know about you but think I am not alone that I hoped the fan got to him and chinned him....it's not big or clever I know but he so deserved it that day.
If we lose I shall restrict myself to a Charles Hawtrey disdainful head toss. If we win I shall merely let loose a Sid James cackle.
I wouldn’t say deserved violence but he should have certainly answered for his actions which I believe he never has explained to anybody for that day .
surely he made your blood boil.... Yeah I know violence is not correct, but as I say my blood boiled that day.
Going to my sister in law's aftert game. He's an armchair Wendy. Goes a couple of times a year with his son.. We go out together all the time. (And to be fair I drag him along to away game weekends to watch us and he always wants us to win. Annoying thing is he thinks it's alright to clap when the opposition score a good goal. Says he likes football grrrrrr) Hope it's not a frosty atmosphere. If tha reading tone tharra tart.
Me too - maybe if we were lucky against Fulham one point. Still cant see us getting anything against Wednsday - picturing a game like the Brentford Birmingham one last week where the Fowls score a freak goal and we hit the post crossbar and just cant get it in - its not our luckiest ground If we can get a point I will be overjoyed. Important we dont get any players sent off
What about F A Hope the linesman in 1982 (ish)? Disallowed 2 goals as we lost in the Cup 1-0 there. Claimed Glavin was offside and hadn’t perfectly timed his run and header. As if.
I just hope we aren't robbed by bad refereeing. I think we're more than capable. I think we'll win but I'd accept defeat as long as we put a shift in and it's fair and square.
