A full international and over 100 Championship games under his belt for a team competing at the right end. Please tell me you're not trying to compare him to Moore, who we've probably sold for a million less.
That IS a good price, ive seen him a few times, i would not have put him any where near that......but hey what do i know......well done sheffield wednesday i say!
I know they've sold their ground to cover their availability of cash problem, but from what I was reading, they need to get some of their players with a re-sale value off the books as well. For that reason , Joao could be the start of a clearout between now and January. There are suggestions that Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnal could both leave before this weeks transfer deadline. Be very interesting to see how it all pans out.
I've not seen any figures, but the piece I read suggested that they needed to probably offload at least five of their higher end earners. It suggested that they might have to rely on loans and not permanent signings in the future. Just shows where gambling on getting to the Premiership can eventually lead you.
26 goals in 57 starts (56 off the bench) and reports are 5m. Moore has 8 in 51 games, you would have to research how many of those were starts but I'm guessing due to him playing for us and Yeovil most of them
I suspect they are either still under transfer embargo, or some sense has dawned, or Chansiri has run out of money or ways to filter it into the clubs coffers. When you think they only made a token £2m profit including a sale of the ground of £60m ish. That's on top of losses of approx. £10m and £20m the previous seasons. I cant imagine the historic wage bill with Fletcher, Forestieri, Winnall, Rhodes and Nuhiu on.
I know they were under a soft embargo as accounts hadn't been filed on time. Then the fudge of the sale of the ground, though last I saw reported, there didn't seem to be any official change at the land registry as to its ownership. Subsequently the EFL were reviewing their rules to stop such a blatant fudge. So I wasn't sure if the embargo had lifted or if it were still in place awaiting the review.
My first thoughts. I'm going to ask my Reading mate. It's this sort of deal which is destroying Championship clubs. £6 million for an average Championship striker. Nuts.
