I'm not sure what the thinking behind it was, but it leads to teams who want to play it out from the back immediately under pressure on the edge of their own box or in the full-back positions. Not sure whether I like it or not. It's definitely interesting.
I like it, teams playing it out were under more pressure before. Essentially a goal kick is now just like a free kick would be, makes sense.
It suits us perfectly because Fulham were trying to tip tap it out from their six yard box and we were closing them down every time. Let’s hope more championship teams try to do this against us.
I don't understand why, when there are much more beneficial changes they could make, for example to combat diving and cheating, why they continually tinker with stuff that bothered nobody.
I think teams that do it are crackers. If they get pressed as we do, it means the keeper has to hoof it and the 2 defenders are then playing everyone onside. Fulham were playing with fire all game.
