we have a thrush, a blackie and a couple of sparrows nesting in our hedges and shrubs in our back garden. I know birds often have more than one clutch a season, anyone know what each of these species averages. Also whats the incubation periods and fledging period too. Its lovely to have them all. We are spending a load on bird foods to help them and keep the bird bath topped up and clean. My bird recognition is not half bad , but my knowledge of their lifstyles is lacking.
Incubation period is usually 13 to 15 days, with fledging anytime up to 2 to 3 weeks after that the fledgings will still be fed by the parents for a few weeks after that, I'm bless to have loads in and around my garden, ranging from great tits, Robins, Blue tits, Starlings, blackbirds to magpies, even got a pair of Bulfinch's nearby, get a wide variety at the numerous feeding stations too like gold and green finches, long tail tits, Dunnocks, Linnotts, I'm very lucky Try different types of feeds to attract different species, like sunflower hearts, and berry suet pellets are king at the minute Good luck
Yeah that right, not uncommon for most to breed 2 or 3 times even in a good year 4, mainly between April to August but in mild weather years in can be longer
