For a 20 year old, looks like we’re moving up a level. Thanks to the board for showing some ambition.

If we paid £1.2m for him then we're either flush with cash or fookin nuts. Hope I'm proved wrong but he ain't worth half that. And in all honesty, local **** rags get their news from places like this board.
We wont have paid that much. Didn’t Radio Sheffield say that? They get their info direct from the club often. Im guessing thats the maximum we would pay with add ons etc
I don't, simply because in all likelihood any player costing £3 million would be expecting wages way out of our structure. Having said that, if we establish ourselves back at this level, I'd expect it to happen in the next couple of years.
They reported it last week, long before anyone had a clue on here and at Radio Sheffield. They were in the know, we were clueless at this end. We put a million pound bid in for Joe Williams last season. Viva Chien.
My thoughts would be a fair bit less rising to 1.2 mil with all the add ons. But, hey, we're all guessing and going on hearsay.
We have brought in a very promising young player on a four year deal. I'll let those at the club worry about the money.
Buying club deflates fee to reassure fans they're not spending all their money. Selling club inflates fee to make it look like a better deal. Logic says take a figure somewhere between 700k and 1.2m.. But most transfers are basically 50% fee and 50% add ons so it could be 700k rising to 1.2 if we don't get relegated or something similar
For me, the fee is immaterial. The important part about signing Luke Thomas, is we have aquired a very promising youngster who because of his ability, sounds as though he was appreciated by the fans at Derby and Coventry alike. What's more, he's got the right motives viz: " excited to join Barnsley, who play attractive football", " probably the best team in the league last season", " can't wait to meet my new team mates and play in the Championship etc etc." This is a lad who if we believe what we are being told , has knocked back offers to play elsewhere, because like Cauley Woodrow, he really does fancy playing for Barnsley FC i.e. he' s here for entirely the right reasons. In today's age of money grabbing mercenaries, he wants to enjoy what he's doing and that is a very commendable attitude to have. To my mind, he will have no problem getting up to speed with the obvious camaraderie that exists within our squad and I for one, look forward to watching him in the famous Red shirt next season.
Yeah players that put a shift in and if they do move away to a bigger club. They've had to earn it it rather than engineer it. Why is this happening to my posts this morning?
