We've used it a couple of times. Well worth it imo. You are able to relax in warm comfortable surroundings and enjoy a drink and some food, before your outbound flight is called. Second time we encountered some passengers from Leeds in there. Determined to get "value for money", they tried to eat as much food as they could and were just drinking alcohol for the sake of it. Complete gluttons.
It's absolutely spot on mate. You only have to have 3-4 pints and a sandwich and you've had your money's worth, and without having to queue up behind an overexcited stag do. If my Mrs was here, I'd tell you the website that gets you extra discount too, but sure it's something like 'Holiday Extras'. I hate flying, it's not a phobia, I just find it insanely boring, so I generally chuck a few airport lounge gins down my neck so I sleep through the flight. Enjoy.
Always use escape lounges at Manchester, plenty of food, comfortable, friendly staff, would recommend it
Sorry I definitely misunderstood the OP at first. I thought they meant an escape room (e.g. Crystal Maze style). Wasn’t sure why they’d have one at an airport, imagine if you couldn’t get out and missed your flight. I guess it could add to the excitement.
Nice one JD. I believe it's called that, because instead of being crammed into a small place, sitting apart, or worse still, having to stand and queuing for refreshments etc, you can escape from the milling crowds by paying to go in there. When you consider you have to usually be at the airport two hours pre-flight, it's a relaxing way to spend the time whilst you're waiting. Cant remember, but I think there was free wi-fi and newspapers in there, as well as refreshments of course. Don't know the present costs. When we flew to Tenerife both times we've used the facility. From memory, it was something like £20 or £25 each, which I thought was reasonable for what we got.
As a frequent flyer Itypically i use the lounges at Manchester Airport every other week and I thoroughly recommend the 1903 lounge. You’ll pay slightly more than the Escape lounge I believe but what you get in terms of quality of food, selection of drinks, service, and overall ambience more than compensates for the additional cost. The snob in me would also like to point out that you don’t have to put up with the Ryanair rabble that the Escape Lounge tends to attract . No kids allowed in the 1903 though if that’s an issue.
