Living in Skipton at the time, been to see city a few times that season when Barnsley away, thank god I gave that match a miss, my thoughts are with all who suffered loss that day
RIP. THE Reds were away at Oxford, getting stuffed by newly promoted Oxford United under Robert Maxwell (not a pleasant image). It was windy on the Cookoo Lane end as it was at Valley Parade. A wind which fanned the flames of that terrible fire. Why is it that there has to be a disaster before public safety is improved?
I would imagine there would be inspections to make sure rubbish is cleared plus we gave fire stewards. Also non smoking everywhere nowadays.
