    Mr Stendel.

Has yet to achieve more than our previous heroes, like Wilson, Hunter, Clarke, Hecky, Bassett (to some).

What a breath of fresh air though & great to have a manager that wears his heart on his sleeve, is fun loving, likes a beer after it is earned. Brought pride & belief to our football club. I think he can go on to be a legend here, if he is not prised away.

I salute him & I salute the board for his appointment. They f-ed up with Morais, but that was a forced decision due to Hecky being 2 faced.

    COYR!

I was with you there up to the two faced remark about PH.
Just out of interest, if someone offered you a job with twice your current salary do you suppose your family, friends, work colleagues and even boss would say don’t take it, be loyal to us, we pay for your loyalty .... yadda yadda?
Or would they congratulate you, wish you well and good luck?
I wasn’t glad to see PH go, but it’s football and it’s business.
Personally I hope he has a great career, he certainly did a job for us.

It's all opinions isn't it, maybe Hecky was too loyal and should have quit at the end of the first season in the championship after we dismantled the team and filled it with inexperienced young players.
I remember a interview he gave after the defeat to Rotherham in pre season and he was basically saying he had warned over the consequences of the policy.
Why we need to keep digging him out i don't know, we have just gone up. I think Stendel is brilliant and I wouldn't swap him for anyone, but if a call came I think he is just as likely to be off.

Its not a question of just loyalty though is it? I'm sure Stendel would get offers but if he just follows the money he could end up like Hecky, failing to impress at a new club. Most of us dont just choose a job because of salary, but other factors as well like who employs us, facilities, career progression etc.

I think he was inferring hecky was 2 faced by signing a new contract with us and then leaving a few weeks later?

that aside we're back where we belong and hecky plies his trade up north in a competative 2 horse league

I think the case was more like, he knew he was off, a fair few fans wanted him to be off and by signing a new contract he got the club 500k. Oh and then he earned himself a cartload of money and continued to work for us by killing Leeds season off.
So as I see it win, win, win, win, win

Good lad . Football is so transient it's hardly worth looking far in front.

I remember the interview that Hecky gave on Radio Dee Dar in the July of 2017 after
Rotherham had given us a pasting in a pre-Season friendly. He didn't name names, but
was critical of the length of time it was taking for any new signings to be brought to Oakwell,
especially after he had lost the nucleus of his team in the firesale seven months earlier. After he had
concluded his interview, I remember that I posted on the BBS, that he really needed to keep his
own Counsel, because if he didn't, irrespective of his past success, Patrick might move
him on, " because you never ever, wash your dirty linen in public ". Nothing to prove it as fact,
but after that loss at Rotherham, I would think that's when he started to convince himself that
he really needed to seek pastures new. He was asked about the sale of the Club and replied by
saying he'd heard that that was a possibility, but had not been told anything officially about it.
He carried on manfully, until in the December of 2017, it was announced that our present
board had bought the Club. It was at that point, after discussion with our new owners, that he thought
that the time was now right for him to bail out, with the result, that after a couple of months re- the
February of 2018, he agreed to take over at Leeds United. Regarding Daniels legacy, our fans have
really taken to him, which is pleasing. He can't yet be recognised as one of our all time succesful Coaches because of the length of time he's been with us, but he has of course made a tremendous
start. I never saw the Reds under Norman Hunter and I only started supporting the team in '87, during
Clarkeys second reign. Out of the others shown in JP's original post, my No 1 has to be Danny, simply
because he gave all Reds fans something we never thought we could ever achieve re- promotion to the
Premiership. I would put Hecky into second place, after what he managed to achieve following two succesful
appearances at Wembley. In third slot is Dave Bassett. Not everyone's cup of tea due to his former links in S2,
but under his management, we played some great stuff and but for an unfortunate penalty miss in the play off
final against Ipswich at Wembley, it was a travesty, that after the swashbuckling way we played our football that
season, it was the Tractor boys who were promoted and not us.
Finally a word about Heckys future. Like a lot, I was critical of his timing in leaving us, especially as he joined
a Club that most Reds detest. Given what we have achieved under DS, I have forgiven him and sincerely hope,
that he enjoys a long career at Hibernian and enjoys a modicum of success with them in the coming
    seasons.
