The Walsall beam back was a great day, nothing like sitting in the stands with a pint watching football.
I haven’t watched a ‘beamback’ before, I’ve been lucky enough to have tickets in the past. Is this the case, is the delay long enough to have people knowing about a goal before it’s shown? I once watched an England game in a pub in Blackpool and they had 2 rooms, 1 TV was straight through the bbc through the normal aerial the other was going through a sky box to bbc so one room was ahead of the other, I was in the wrong room and it spoilt the game, hearing the cheer before the goal went in, but worst was probably knowing an attack wasn’t coming to anything due to no cheering from the other room.
The Liverpool one was probably before the widespread use of smartphones. It wasn't something I was acutely aware of at the Walsall one. Both were great events
The Liverpool beam back was excellent, the Derby one not so. Not because of anything technical but just because we were abject on the day.
Was this last year? I went to the game (it was my one and only away game the entire season) but I genuinely didn't even know we'd had a beam back for it. I thought we had only ever had 2.
We had a similar experience whilst on holiday last year watching the world cup - was our penalty shoot out where it hit home most Street lined with small bars, each with a tv and a few dozen people sat watching at each, but with 20/30 seconds delay at times between some of the bars. Fortunately we were live as it was so it was the other bars near that found out from our reactions, but does make for a weird experience
Yeah last season when relegation was confirmed. I thought we'd only had two too but I thought it was Derby and Liverpool. I didn't know about, or just can't remember hearing about the Walsall game.
I had the misfortune of managing to get tickets for the Derby game too. Remember being sat in the corner in tears and have some steward asking me to leave.
Yes it was - I watched it on my own in a bar in Cyprus. Drank like a fish as I was so nervous, must have cleared 8 pints in 90 mins. Ended up getting in an argument with the Cypriot taxi driver and told to walk home. It was a pretty sweet night.
I remember beanbags from when I was at junior school. About six inches or so long, a cloth bag full of ..... beans? ..... which were part of playing throw and catch. Anyone else remember those days of stoolball, hoolahoops, doing "gym", beanbags etc, and those canvas pumps you had to wear?
Yeah. Sky didn't have the clubs own TV platforms to compete with then so have clearly agreed rules around that. Same reason we can't watch Sky games on iFollow.
Will there be a match pass on ifollow if there is a beamback? Hard to justify travelling to oakwell to watch on a screen when I can watch it in the comfort of my own home.
No idea mate. I can't even remember the Walsall game being a beam back. I watched it on Sky. Edit. See reply from Gally.
