What was that all about at the end of the game. Just seen it on the video that the club posted. Lots of players seemed to be handing their shirts to fans but Mowatt was manhandled away (and reacted) by one steward who seemed to take offence at the players celebrating with the support.
Saw this as it happened. No need at all for the steward to do that. Just again trying to show they have a big of power. A few players trying to give their shirts to some younger fans but was being stopped
Doubt it. A player has the legal right to be on the pitch. If the Steward manhandled him that is technically assault. Any reaction that follows could be deemed self defence, so long as the reaction was proportionate i.e. Mowatt didn't deck him he is in the clear
Good on Alex. But he shouldve ignored the steward and carried on towards the fans, see what the soft **** in blue wouldve done then.
Nah, he only moved his own arm out of the way. He did it quickly and it looked dramatic but he didn’t do anything to the steward.
I saw that on the Recap film as well. The Steward overrode his role and the Club should make a formal complaint as well as Alex M. There was no public disorder or risk of it,players should not be handled by supporters or stewards while on the pitch. It spoilt what was a special day for the players .
Seems to be getting some attention on Twitter now, no harm was done but I think Walsall should be having a word with the steward in question.
I can't believe the phrase 'manhandled' has been used to describe any of that altercation. Steward was out of order and being a jobsworth, but it was hardly anything really.
Can we please keep a lid on this incident. We only need the sky panel to investigate and mowatt will find himself with a 3 match ban!!
It's made The Sun now. Quite supportive of Mowatt though. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...twitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1553538561
