I went to school in Wakefield in the 50s. At that time most school friends supported Huddersfield then Wolves, then Barnsley with the remainder supporting Leeds.

Nobody gives a toss about Wakey town/city do they Jack lol. Well, I certainly dont as Im from Normy, and that is of course right next door on the map isnt it. :D

Wakey try to run the rule over us as we have a WF6 postcode, but I reckon we could do them if it came to a scrap. :p

Jesus, i work with someone from Normy, I thought his unhinged demeanour was just an aberration. Seems that’s not the case.

Oddly enough AFC Emley have just announced they're changing their name back to Emley AFC and claiming back "their heritage"!

I worked with a lad from Normy, who sadly is no longer with us. He was a truly great bloke.
He was unassuming and saw the best in everyone. Really avid Reds fan who started supporting
the Club in the Clarke/ Glavin era and right up to his passing, went home and away with his daughter
and his wife. He was always in awe as to how Ronnie played and was also very complimentary
about McCarthy, Evans, Aylott, Chambers and " Banger".

My youngest son was in the same class at school as Helen Worth's ( Gail in Corrie) nephew.
His Dad Neville Wigglesworth ( Helens real surname) was for 22 years the Chairman of Ossett
Albion before he resigned. I would think that along with others, he would have been very reluctant to merge with
Ossett Town. I imagine, to someone like him , it would be as unthinkable as Sheffield United and
    Wednesday joining forces.
