The Football equivalent of sending them to bed with no supper. They'll bleat about how they've been harshly treated then carry on as if nowt had happened
They are 5 points above the relegation places - no doubt their fraudulently-obtained, expensive squad will find it in their hearts to avoid relegation- they can start next season afresh! Perhaps they’ll get a fine for the Grealish assault (failure to control their fans - who knew?) - make it a £5 mill fine then do them for overspending Cheats are prospering!
Cam got a 3 game ban for a non foul, they lose an average of £13m per year over 3 years and lose only 9 points, proportion?
It’s a token gesture at best, but it actually undermines any authority to do with ffp and for that they should don big red shoes and a blue curly wig.
It makes a mockery of the rules. That kind of cheating in other spheres of sport would lead to much more serious punishment. But so called big club, admittedly big city and the FA don’t do enough. When will the FA realise that if you seriously want to rid the game of financial cheating and also if it goes wrong financial mismanagement that some big name has to pay the ultimate. I don’t know whether the Italian game is any cleaner, but I expect so after what happened to Juventus. In England, there are too many vested interests and too many behind the scen deals, that slapped wrists are all the bigger and more importantly bigger noises at FA HQ teams will get. Nothing changes. But as a Barnsley fan proud of our stance, I say win clean and if we cannot win clean, then we are better off not winning. It’s not fair, but in the long term the failure of big name cheaters financially will leave us in a better position. Am I dreaming about a future utopia where Barnsley play Shamrock Rovers in the Champions League final? Probably...
Saburtalo won the league here last season. New club, new money. 2000 seat stadium. Dinamo came second, 80,000 seat stadium, massive history. Locomotive mid table- also a history and a 30,000 seat stadium. Football is bent. Barnsley and Shamrock and little Rustavi, that brought all of 12 away fans the 20 miles to the last game of the season at Locomotive are what football should be about!
If they made it at least a -15 point deduction, then that would have been fairer. They/the EFL must start making these punishments fair and not just the proverbial simple slap on the wrists etc. Birmingham have scraped it and just stayed up for far too long now, remember in '13-14 when we went down. They scraped up in the last minute (away at Bolton funnily enough), and they've done this most seasons since then. Surely their luck has run out now eh ?!!.
