........... they probably haven’t seen Oakwell like that before. It’s worth pointing out to them that if they get to the Championship and we have a decent team - then this is what Oakwell can look like every home match. Fantastic atmosphere. Barnsley fans showed how good they can be - even on a Tuesday night in atrocious weather Match was spoilt quite a bit by the terrible weather.
They were the owners when we played both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United last season when we took 4 points off the dee-dars so they have seen the ground rocking before. You're right though - it serves as a good reminder..
well we have averaged just short of the 12k crowds all season, so promotion would bump that up about 2 - 3k , so an average attendance of 15k would be very nice.
Wasn’t that my point ??? That is to say - the owners have only seen an unsuccessful side playing in a big match - they haven’t witnessed the atmosphere of a successful side playing in a big match. The atmosphere against Sunderland was the best I’ve witnessed in years.
To all that don't attend every game for one reason or another, well done for last night the extra numbers helped. We are now at the point when support from the fans would help finish the season in style. So I ask you all that enjoyed last night join us every home game and support your Team support you fantastic Town.
And keep the swirling wind out. I didn’t think the weather was that bad against Sunderland until at full time I walked around the corner of the West Stand and it blew mi wig off !!!
I like looking out of the ground. Don't like filled in grounds and acoustics at the Ricoh were still rubbish.
Probably because it was 2 thirds empty, the West Stand and empty corners do the atmosphere no help, completely different in the corner thats filled in.
Would be lovely to get the West Stand sorted, get the ground to about 25k. We wouldn't fill it that often unless we got to the Prem, but in the Championship I think we could get gates up to an average of 16k, if we could accommodate more away fans for big games & be able to keep prices at an affordable level for our type of town (skint). Add a Fan Zone & get people in early, or post match for a beer or two, before heading back to town & it would really help with the atmosphere, but also the social aspect, which keeps many people going.
The past... crowds are already up on the last time in this league, it’s the future we in to convince.
