Racing goes ahead after the inspection!

Small loss (1 point = £10) on Orsen's selections yesterday. That would of course have been a small profit but for Benie Des Dieux's last flight fall with the race at her mercy. A little luck is often part of the game!

    Wednesday

13:30 Champ Top on the ratings and looked to win a very good race at Newbury despite the race not being ideally run to suit him. The name is a tribute to Sir A.P.!

14:10 Delta Work Three from three over fences this season and has by a good margin the best form here. Paul Nicholls’ Topofthgame is a danger but I much prefer Delta Work.

14:50 Can’t recommend a bet in this – the race is way too competitive and there is little separating many of the runners.

15:30 Altior Will win but will not be a backable price.

16:10 Tiger Roll Has by far the best form claims but is short. Josie’s Orders is a viable each way alternative.

16:50 As per the 2.50, file under too difficult!

17:30 Envoi Allen Very smart bumper form in Ireland and a winner at Grade 2 level. Has bags of potential.

£10 level stakes; stakes split where more than one selection.

A mixed day yesterday. Collected on the place lay of Al Dancer and ended up with the winner of the Mares - but that was ever so slightly fortunate!

I love the big handicaps. Can't beat sticking a few darts at big prices.

Altior should win. As should Tiger Roll. Can't recommend at the prices. There are a lot of short prices today. The Bumper will be less of a lottery because it's the smallest field ever. There's usually 20 odd runners in it.

1.30 - I've fancied Battleoverdoyen for this for months. I'm really worried about Elliot's form though. Jerveys Plate could run well at a big price.

2.10 - Agree about Delta Work. Mr Malarky may run into a place if the ground remains soft.

2.50 - Now this beauty. Coral are paying each way 7 places in their own race. So I recommend picking something unexposed at a big price. I'll be doing Burbank and Calie Du Mensil. If in doubt in handicaps, back an Irish novice as they've been cleaning up in handicaps across the Irish Sea.

3.30 - There maybe some value in the without Altior market. I imagine Saint Calvados and Politologue will set off like the clappers with Min and Altior sitting just behind. This could leave it open for something to be ridden conservatively for a place. God's Own is 12s without Altior. Maybe decent valie.

4.10 - Pass. Will probably lay the fav.

4.50 - Lethal Steps is chucked in on his flat form, but the price is a little skinny. I'll probably back that to win and Torpillo each way.

5.30 - Envoi Allan to bring home the bacon.

    --

Apple's Jade never gave my mate a run for his money yesterday. He made a profit of £984 on the race though. He would have won £29,770. Bit depressing but you can't have everything!

    Good luck all.

    5.30 {Bumper}

    ENOI ALLEN

    5s

    ABRECADABREAS

    12s

1.30 BATTLEOVERDOYEN is Giggistown’s best novice this yearand looks a bit special it has won its point then bumper and novice then its grade 1 it looks very strong and reliable. CITY ISLAND has very good form and should be in the first three.

2.10 DELTA WORK won last year’s Pertemps (handicap), it jumps well and is a real battler, I am not sure if the Irish are better but SANTINI looks the best of the UK horses and has always been campaigned in graded races, unfortunately it has a bruised foot and may miss the race. I will also give THE WORLDS END one last chance as its let me down on two previous occasions.

2.50 This is the hardest handicap to work out as its very difficult to know what is actually going to run I fancied GARO DE JUILLYwhich is 37th in the list and probably won’t get a run and I fancy it for the last race on Friday the M.Pipe conditional jockeys race, Eventually I settled on and THE MIGHTY DON which has good place graded form behind Paisley Park, keep an eye on DANCING ON MY OWN it is a lightly raced improver and has a chance.

3.30 ALTIOR wins, but will not carry not any of my money at 1/3 fav, GODS OWN has a great record in the Arkle & the champion chase so likes this course and is worth a small EW bet at 50/1,however it does prefer good ground.

4.10 The cross country race is a bit of fun, last year’s winner and grand national winner TIGER ROLL looks a good thing but is no value at evens, so I have went for TEA FOR TWO who was graded class and fell in the gold cup last year if it likes these unusual fences then it will have a very good chance, the reliable one is AUVERGNAT who is better horse this year and won a nice £100K race last time out it will finish in the first four.

4.50 I like SURIN but it may go for the mares’ novice race on Thursday or the triumph on Friday. The OI THE OI’s CLUB has a good chance.

5.30 The Irish tend to have the best bumper horses and this year looks no different, the big bumper race in Ireland was won by ENOI ALLEN and it looks good for this race, ABRECADABREAS also ran in that race and ran out with a furlong to go, it was going to be second and should also have a good chance here.

    Abort Gordon Elliot horses.

    Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Battleoverdoyen never went a yard there. Apple's Jade terrible yesterday, as was Hardline. Wouldn't surprise me if there's a bug or a virus in the stable.
