Can someone explain this rule to me cos I'm watching the Arsenal, Man U game and there's been quite a bit of the old studs on show .

It’s very simple, if you play for Barnsley it’s a sending off, otherwise it’s acceptable or a yellow card at most!

    See.....Scimples!

The rule has nothing to do with studs as far as I know it's just if it's deemed dangerous.

That Ashley Young tackle was far more aggressive and dangerous than McGeehan’s. I would bet a large wager he won’t get a 3 game ban though.

Will be interesting to see if Knockaert’s challenge gets retrospective punishment.

Worst offence yesterday was Everton keeper Jordan Pickford's rugby tackle
on Newcastles Solomon Rondon. The "double jeopardy" rule is a joke. The
Ref awarded a penalty, which the Newcastle player missed when Pickford
who really shouldn't have been allowed to stay on, guessed right and beat
the ball out. Justice was done in the end, as the Mags rallied and ended up
    winning 3-2.

It can’t he got a yellow for it. So dealt with at the time by the ref. No mechanism for revisiting it.

The problem was the ref didn’t know the rules. The double jeopardy rule specifically excludes situations like the Pickford rugby tackle, it was brought in for cases where a goal scoring opportunity was illegally denied when an attempt to play the ball is mistimed. In a case where it’s clearly intentional foul play a red card and a penalty is still the correct decision

Well actually the FA have gone against their policy when they did Ben Thatcher, they quoted extreme circumstances! The same extreme circumstances couldnt however be accepted when Chris Hulme ended up in intensive care with a fractured skull!

so are we going to have this after every SKY/quest game from now on..... Pathetic! let it go , its happened there is no going back, get behind the lads they are more than capable and together in order to get through this. The hysteria over our missing players is certainly not helping the squad we have to chose from, basically they will be getting vibes that they are not good enough without the missing few. Stendel is a top coach as are his staff, he will sort it. So instead of whining like stuck pigs ...rally round behind the rest of the players.

Didn't he get a yellow? Ergo, ref has seen it and it won't be assessed again.
