He needs to ring the Samaritans over the weekend. Although he spoke well of us he sounded about as low as I’ve ever heard any manager.
I thought he was very gracious in defeat and a lot of maangers could learn fromore him! His injury list is horrendous though so major struggle ahead for Southend.
It was interesting that the comentator mentioned Southend were the 5th biggest spenders on wages in our division, that must be sickening really for him to not have that potential talent available to him, he’s probably not far off the sack.
I've always liked the guy. Robert was pretty decent too, but I won't comment on that trouble maker Enoch.
That’s what happens when you sign the likes of Cox, Fortune, Church, Ferdinand, Turner, Kightly, etc. They moved some of them on last year after the Powell appointment, long term strategy to have a younger team, but they didn’t expect that to happen because 15 first team players were on the injury list. I don’t think he’ll get the sack as the injuries have been so bad. However, they weren’t happy with a couple of his tactics yesterday so patience is wearing a bit thin. He’s a club legend which helps.
My old deputy head from school is a massive Southend fan. He's fully behind Powell, though a lot aren't. Their injury list is absolutely insane. I really don't know what else he could do in such circumstances. Unlucky doesn't even begin to cover it.
Southend Fan here and may I add a massive fan of Oakwell also. Firstly, congrats on the game. Well played. I didn't expect anything less to be honest. We have not won a game since New Years day so the form spoke for itself. It's a long cry from our last visit to oakwell holding you 0-0 until the dying minutes when you sneaked one in at 87'. On the injuries, it's the worst year ever. We lost Hopper which was a massive blow. We also lost Coker which was equally bad. Since then it's been almost an injury per game average of 12 out at any one time and at one point 16 unavailable players. A lot of the fans are calling for Powell out but the more sensible ones know it firstly is not the right time to change managers and also it would make naff all difference anyway. I think the players looked tired and run down yesterday, not sure why but it's like something is going on behind closed doors. It will be a miracle now if we stay up. But if we go down hopefully back to full squad next season an we start again. Couple of comments on here about your fans at half time. We all have them don't we. If the stewards did wrong trust me they will get dealt with, but it's a two way thing and some of your lads were wrong. Also see a comment about our safety cert. We are waiting on council approval for the go ahead on the new stadium but that's a long story going back years. I'll probably not be about when it happens and I'm not even that old yet. I love Oakwell. Never had an issue when I've been up there and always had a cracking day including a walk up to the Dove Inn and have a good laugh with the locals. You guys are flying and I think all Blue's fans would wish you well however it ends this season. Maybe in 2 years we might catch you back up.
Cheers Shrimpers fan. Hope you can make it through to the end of the season and stay up. I like Chris Powell and your injury list sounds insane. Yes, we all have them, but we seem to have more than our fair share right now and decent fans are sick of them.
