and risking injury to his opponent (And I personally don’t believe he was) then why did the ref fail to see this? Out of control, lunge, studs showing & made contact!! Difference is we didn’t go rolling around the floor trying to con the ref!
That's where we lack the leadership on the pitch. Every other team would have been telling the ref how dangerous it was, we just walk away.
The commentators mentioned that the Southend players went straight to the ref screaming for a red card as soon as Brown went in - I personally thought it was a red as per the letter of the law. The issue we've got is that that doesn't seem to apply to opponents when they do the same to us - therefore we need to influence the officials like the Southend players did. Same goes for penalty shouts.
Oh he had a great view of it. So did the sky commentary team who actually showed a replay of it but their only comments were concernc for the welfare of the Southend player who had hurt himself lunging at Dougall
Thats one thing this team is lacking. We are very young and naive. We never draw the easy fouls or make a fouls worse than it looks like their guy did with brown yesterday. Older wiser teams win lots of cheap free kicks against us throwing themselves on floor. We could be alot more savvy in that respect, not cheating just playing the game.....
This. Let’s not go on about the Ref again. We all saw how piss poor he was. If he’s replaying his performance from yesterday, he should be ashamed.
There was one incident yesterday where cox and Pinillos (??) Contested a ball near the halfway line. Cox tried to shoulder charge and bounced off him and fell on the floor. Ref gave them a free kick. It was ridiculous. I watched the whole game again when I got in and Cox actually got up laughing. He couldn't believe his luck.
I haven’t checked but other than Turner, Kightley and Cox we played a team of kids yesterday. I don’t think it’s that we’re young and naive, it’s that we’re all about the football and the pace of our attacks. We shirk a challenge looking for the goal scoring opportunity and I quite like that
Was definitely a red that, thought that at the time. The same player also shoved Green (I think) completely off the ball when going down the line yet nothing. The tackle on Cavare when he ended up off the pitch was also a bookable offence that was missed. Some pretty big calls missed there.
#42 is the lad on load from Blackburn. He also upended Green on the line that sent him flying down the banking.
it was beyond belief he excaped at least a caution In addition the the red card challenge shown by the OP there were at least 3 yellow card challenges on Green 2 of which the ref gave fouls for but that was all - the throwing him into the ditch went totally unpunished. Lindsay makes one slightly dodgy challenge and is straight in the book The only decision we got in our favour all game was McGeehans "stamp" - which I assume the ref missed though I am certain it was accidental due to their guy moving his leg - I am sure had he seen it Cam would have been off as well Still he gave a foul but no booking for the immediately before instance where their guy went through the back of Dougall
Watched the EFL programme on Quest last night and in one game, ( can't recall which) a tackle just as bad as Brown's was made and the player who made it didn't even get a caution. It's only right, that such tackles should be punished, but it's not a lot to ask that consistency is applied surely.?
Let’s not forget in that incident we had a great chance to break and score but he decided to pull the play back It was a woeful decision in a catalogue of woeful decisions. A couple went for us too, he was just inept. He pulled them back for a non existent foul during one of their best chances - Davo made an excellent close range save but the ref actually blew for a foul - no idea what for Another one was where their player had Woodrow in a full on headlock - the ref was losing control at that point. Another annoyance was their players quite deliberately shoving our lads into the concourse - they did it 3 times. It was all very calculated and cynical - Green didn’t even get a free kick for his one!
