10 years ago my Mother died, My Dad passed in 1995. My Mum had always said that her dog , Cindi a corgi who came into her life after Dad passing, would not cope without her. She asked me that upon her death to have Cindi euthanised and cremated with her. I was with my mum when we went to get Cindi as a puppy, over the years I developed a close contact with Cindi. When I was going up to Hoyland on a week -end which I did about every 2-3 weeks my Mum would say to her when she got up that day "our Barry's coming ".... Cindi would sit by the gate all day until I got there... and the welcome was wonderful from her. I could not face what my Mum had requested, but on her death bed she told me to look after Cindi.... My wife and I did ... and Cindi bonded so deep with my wife Ann.... it was wonderful... Cindi has now gone , but it was a wonderful thing to have been a part of her life. dumb animals.... not in a million years. A good film to watch that will cement this is a film called "Alpha"... tremendous film.
Not always the case RH... watch Paul O'Grady " for the love of dogs" and you will see that's not always the case.... chemistry is always important too.
I dare say that most dogs would eventually settle with new families if they were loved as much as they were previously but personally I couldn't settle if my dog wasn't with me. I couldn't let him go under any circumstances.
Am I the only person reading this and wondering why anyone would want to kill a healthy dog? This is hardly Greyfriars Bobby.
Never had a dog in our family when I was single. Met my girlfriend who is now my wife and her parents had had dogs since she was a tot. Throughout our marriage she kept asking me if I would like one, but as we both worked I considered that it would not be acceptable to have it locked in the house for up to eight hours every day. When we both retired, I reluctantly relented and in January 2017, we paid a not inconsiderable sum to buy Lhasa Apso pedigree puppy. I absolutely adore that little dog. He gives us unconditional love and does things that make us laugh every single day. I honestly don't know what we'd do without him.
Don't think it's illegal as such but I bet you would struggle to find a vet willing to put a healthy dog down.
We put healthy chickens, sheep, cows and pigs down. Bit of bbq dog... strange how we don't eat dog or horse here. Never had dog, but horse can be pretty decent.
Saw this pic this morning and it reminded me of a recent thread about one goalkeeping error for some reason.
