Last time I went to a Toby Carvery I saw a woman (who looked to have far from perfect personal hygiene) pick up the Yorkshire puds one by one with her hands so she could ask her kid which one he wanted. I've not been back since.
Why, why would you post this? I bloody love Toby Carverys but I have to fit nicer into my new dress by next month or take it back. All I can think about is a King Size plate loaded with roasties now.
I've been in the j37 one twice. The first was a midweek and was edible. The second was appalling, its the only time i've had veg on my plate that could have been put in a glass and pass as a smoothie... and that was just the broccoli!
Market forces ;-) I'm in mourning as my nearest pub (literally about 100 yards away) has just been bought by Youngs. The company had 15 in its chain, Youngs have 200ish... so I'm not hopefully the existing food which is really good is going to keep its standards.
My favourite pub was bought out by Hungry Horse and it is rubbish now. We used to go at least once a fortnight but they’re lucky if we go once every 6 months now and that’s only to see if it has improved (spoiler, it never has).
Lol just finished my vegan root vegetable dinner sat having a drink in the one on Denby dale road ...
When bigger companies come in, its seldom an improvement, and just a shift to a "more cost efficient" buying system... or lesser quality. ah well... there are plenty within 20 minutes walk in all directions. But I have noticed a good number of businesses closing lately. Library moved, old building empty for several months. Estate agents closed. An independent seasonal café/restaurant in Nunhead closed. This pub taken over. And one or two bits and bob shops and a few restaurants on the main local high street closed and vacant. Tough times for the high street and food outlets.
