I'm not saying we could but we'd definitely give it more of a go. They've not tried to have a go at them or get forward in any numbers. When they had it they've played backwards and sideways. Dreadful effort
They had a lone striker Fletcher. Another three on the bench and Sammy The Snake still couldn't get on the bench. They had twenty odd percent of the ball against a weaker Chelsea team and barely any shot at all, all game. I genuinely believe we would have gave it more of a go.
I didn't watch it to be fair so I can't comment. Who know how we would do we could play excellent and cause problems or play like the first half yesterday and would get done 4 or 5.
Just making the general point that I can't see that we would have come away with any better result than they did.
Mark Lawrenson saying “they couldn’t have done anymore” after the game. Yes they could’ve done. They could’ve actually tried attacking and gone for it at least a little bit. They’ve lost 3-0 without having a go, does it really matter if you lose 5-0 but you’ve actually had some attempts on goal? I was glad to see Sam Hutchinson giving a penalty away too. Pr1ck.
Certainly did HR. They won 4-2 in a Fourth Round FA Cup replay at the Bridge with Stead, Morais, Halliday and Yeates getting the goals and it was no fluke, they thoroughly deserved it. My former boss is a Bantams fan and is mates with the BBC weather forecaster Little Paul ( Hudson). Met up for a pint a few days after the game and they never ever stopped going on about it. He was insufferable when they went into the Premiership. Kept ramming it down my throat every day. I forgave him, cos he was a great bloke and it was only banter. He was very impressed with how accommodating we were as a Club. We had a meeting one afternoon with Barnsley Council and we had an hour to kill for our dinner. He was asking me about our Ground, so we agreed to a ride up to Oakwell. We were near the back of the North Stand when a member of the groundstaff spotted us and asked what we wanted. I explained what we were doing and he invited us into the dressing rooms to look round and then left us to walk the entire perimeter of the Ground which was very good of him. My boss's reaction was " what a Club. That would never happen at City."
They were very poor. At the start of the programme, I had to smile when Gabby Logan described Wednesday as a "big Club. " Then Alex Scott described Steve Bruce as an " athlete".!!! When they measure him for his Club suit, I wouldn't be surprised if they have to use a moped to get round him. I'd bet he's not far short of being nearly as big as their wazzock supporter Tango.!!!!
Very disappointed by Wednesday - they offered nothing. Didn't even have a go. Dreadful game to watch too. I think we'd have done better.
