oakwell dewsbury and batley area

due to our lass being in dewsbury hospital at the moment spending a lot of time around this area.
the amount of places with oakwell in the name is unreal.
oakwell hall, oakwell industrial est, a place in dewsbury hospital called the oakwell centre. the taxis waiting outside are oakwell taxis. seen oakwell on other signs and firms aswell wondered if anybody from the area knew why oakwell is so popular round that area.

Could it be a Yorkshire Tykes promotion cos I think I know who could be behind it .

I know of Oakwell hall nr Birstall Leeds, its got Gardens , a GHOST and some bird called Bronte mentioned it in a book called Shirley. Apart from that were all Barnsley Arn't we.

There's an Oakwell Hall up Birstall way too and an Oakwell Taxis. There are a few reds fans up there including my lad who lives in a converted mill just off Bradford Road My lad saw a 5 a side team at the sports centre wearing the Barnsley strip. If you get the change go and have a pint in the West Riding. That's the pub at the railway station.

 

There’s an Oakwell hotel in Blackpool but nothing to do with Barnsley
