I thought he went in aggressively and not really in control either. **** touch meaning he had to lunge in. I suppose you’re right given it was rescinded but if that challenge would’ve happened tomorrow night i would guess all of this forum would be up in arms asking for a red.
No, not really. There’s some of us on here still want tackling in the game, sometimes a foul is just a foul. The tackle on Mowatt Saturday and on Dougall at Shrewsbury were worse than Power’s at Walsall, and I didn’t think the Mowatt one was a red either. Dougall’s was a bit nasty but again they didn’t give a red.
Haha yep. To me the Walsall player slides in first and then Power goes pretty much over the ball with his left foot and jabs his studs into the guy’s ankle. Both sets of players’ reactions is quite telling imho.. Anyway, be better when we beat their full strength team! PS I’m old school too, tackling’s a skill that’s being pushed out of the game too much as far as I’m concerned
Tackling was a fantastic part of the game and massively underrated and unappreciated. A full blooded challenge from both players gets the crowd and your team mates going and breeds confidence. I’m not talking about the deliberately late ones, the off the ball rubbish or the petulance but the art of timing and aggression where appropriate. Unfortunately as our game has been watered down to its current state it’s a dying art which I think is a shame. I don’t think I’d have played as long or enjoyed it as much under these parameters.
