A lot of people who know him have said it's out of character for him and came as a surprise. Does one isolated incident of him being a tit make him a racist? I would say no. Seems he was angry and behaved like a prat but I haven't seen people who know him rush to the press to attack his character.
Just because somebody is usually good at hiding their prejudice doesn't mean they aren't prejudice. Quite a lot of murderers are described as nice people by friends and family
If in a fit of rage you resort to racism without thinking, that makes you a racist that usually suppresses those thoughts. Simple as.
No one has to run to the press to attack his character , he did a fine job on his own . It was a tirade of racial abuse against an old lady & if the Ryan air staff had done their job correctly , then police would have been called & he would have been arrested , removed from the plane & faced the consequences .
Hahaha. Typically ******* bonkers as usual. Can I have my stick back, you’ve got the wrong end in your hands and now it’s got **** on it?
What a ridiculous thing to say and exactly why debate on divisive subjects is nigh on impossible. In regards of the original post I think this guy is deluding himself if he believes his outburst wasn't racist. I sometimes get annoyed with people but I would never resort to the kind of language that this bloke did.
Does he usually act in a racist manner? Probably not, no. Does he live his life ruled by prejudicial thoughts? Probably not, no. Was this outburst out of character? More than likely. But at a time of stress, and it's often at such times these things come out, his deep seated prejudices emerged and he caused a lot of distress to an entirely innocent individual. And her daughter. So what do we do as a society? We forgive him. That might not be so easy for the woman in question and her daughter, but it should be for the rest of us. In a civilised society we expect someone who has wronged another to apologise. He's done that. We then explain and try to educate. We say why we believe the behaviour displayed is wrong. Punishing this man will serve no purpose. Educating him might. Showing him that prejudices only ever cause distress and that acceptance makes everyone's life happier. Showing him that we're all the same. It will be difficult for a man of his years to truly rid himself of all prejudices. But he might start to think more about it and try to act in a more accepting manner. Maybe next year he'll see an elderly black woman drop her shopping and, instead of walking by, he'll stop to help. And that one act won't make up for the distress he caused the woman on the plane, but it will make another feel a little bit better for a short time. Someone's mum, someone's grandma. Or we could make the rest of his life ******* miserable, because he did something wrong, and we need pay back.
I have said he was a tit and of course in this issolated incident the idiot was a racist. Folks who know him haven't been rushing to the press to throw him under a bus for a few quid, so it was probably a terribly bad but one off incident. If someone hits someone on the one occasion does that make them violent? Someone drinks too much and can't stand does that make them a drunk? Of course not. It's not like he's someone who's always trying to be nasty with words like Trump or Tommy Robinson.
Same owd same owd on here. Everybody (well most) trying to be holier than thou. Everyone (well most) scrambling trying to get to the top of the heap - the heap that has a flag on it saying ‘I’m the most offended’. Stephen Fry. It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ******* what." This is supposed to be a fooking football forum. When did it revert to being a knitting pattern forum !?!?!?!
Don't know about this guy but in the heat of an argument someone who's not racist might say something racist. Minorities have an advantage in that regard, they can say what they want in an argument and it will never be judged racist.
The thing is plenty of women can probably say Harvey Weinstein was a perfect gentleman to them- and they are telling the Truth. It doesn’t excuse iOS other alleged behaviour though does it?
