Ashamed to say I bottled out, looking at the weather forecast and not fancying being buffeted around on the M1/A1. Got to watch it on Sky and mightily impressed, until we conceded a needless penalty. Their second was just lucky - well taken but lucky. Ours were all superb though. Another great win and on we go. I'm off to Wetherby Road now - 15 minute walk to see Harrogate play Dover. Good football day today!
I thought we were really lucky today. They could easily have been given the disallowed goal in the first half and we were also lucky not to concede a second penalty late on in the second half. I think it was Lindsay with a neck hold. I am glad we won, but the 2nd half was not pretty.
Sign of a good team when they can win ugly if circumstances demand it. Today was nailed on for an upset, only 2 wins at home, 3 key players missing, very little experience in some areas, horrible blustery conditions, very good Luton team, Sky cameras present. Well we won the game with 3 excellent goals, dug in when had to and yes we rode our luck at times, and got the biggest attendance so far this season. And 3 points. Nowt to be critical of from this Red.....
I know but I let Sky convince me that it would be too windy on the motorway. Great game to watch although we let them into it too often
Really enjoyed the game good crowd too well done the club Nice to see a good Luton side come and give it a real go but for a dodgy lino they could've had a draw I agree that young Jacob Brown looks very raw but an undoubted talent same with Ben Williams these two lads deserve our support because they will both blossom I have to say though that I along with many others have criticised both Potts and Moncur, well, it's quite obvious that These lads are now enjoying great form, long may that continue.
There was a train strike too with only one an hour in each direction and without stops at Wombwell, Darton, Dodworth, etc. On the plus side they had four carriages as opposed to the usual two with everyone squeezed into each other's armpits.
Mmm... well you’ll be a bit out with that. Did you think the England attendance was 50,000 last night!
so far Barnsley have an average of 11,789 at home..... and are undefeated at home. Hope fully this will continue and the gates will grow...
The decent turnout did me a massive favour today. Got to the ground to be told the car park was full, so I parked on one of the streets off Grove Street. Not only did it save me a fiver, but we were straight away after the game and drove up to the motorway without any holdups, despite being some of the last out of the ponty end. Happy days!
No because that's tickets sold not how many are in the ground. He wanted a guess of what the attendance actually was without season pass holders who didn't turn up counted.
I would say so, yes In my defence, I posted that having checked the BBC football site to view our "report". Bizarre description of Mama's goal: ".....substitute Thiam restored Barnsley's two-goal cushion, curling his shot inside Shea's left-hand post" Curling? It went straight as an arrow with the power of an exocet missile. Bearing this in mind maybe the quoted crowd figure is entirely wrong. I only had the benefit of watching the Sky broadcast but the East Stand and Ponty did look very well populated so a crowd near to 13,000 was probably about right.
