Quite a tough documentary to watch earlier, about how much we are ruining our planet by not being savvy enough with our waste. Well worth a watch on iPlayer for those who haven't seen it. Here is an example of the stupidity of our supermarkets, who aren't doing enough to save our oceans...... The show should be shown in schools to educate pupils on what's happening or future generations are going to have a much worse world to live in. Environment lessons should be taught from time to time as part of the curicular. Be good if our club helped the situation. For example if someone brought a flask to the match for their coffee to be poured straight into, something could be knocked off their price for avoiding a plastic cup.
I didn't watch it but I think we can all do our little bit to help. I've used a refillable water bottle for a few years now and I've recently stopped buying shower gel and shampoo in plastic bottles reverting to using soap and a shampoo bar which use zero plastic. I've decided to do away with plastic razors next and plan to revert to a safety razor though my face is a little skeptical at this thought. There are still areas I think can improve (cleaning materials for starters) but I'm slowly getting there.
Plastic is a by-product of the all powerful Oil industry. That's why nearly everything is made from it.. even your clothes.. they'd have you eating it if they could.. On a side note, we went to the beach at the south of Brid a few weeks back, the ones where you can take the dog, all year round..miles of sandy beach. Not that easy to get to, no tea rooms or owt. But no plastics, not one bit, infact my missies actually remarked on it. Clean as a whistle, apart from driftwood. Seeing the world oceans are alll moving constantly everywhere , you would expect plastics to be on every beach, right.. Especially in the awful Natzi west. Not just where the TV cameras happen to be..

It is and has been for quite some time. The kids at our school are particularly passionate about it and have successfully campaigned to get lunch time packaging changed. The school still uses plastic cutlery though which our school council are NOT happy about and are trying desperately to change. Kids quite often show us up with their ability to show compassion.
Lazy of a school to use plastic cutlery. Just use stainless steel and stop being lazy on washing up. We should all probably be using a bamboo toothbrush, but it's too easy for retail outlets to stick to the plastic ones that get sent to landfill. I Googled them last night and one Vegan website claims in Australia alone 30 million plastic toothbrushes get sent to landfill every year. I dread what the number is for the UK.
" Drowning in plastic " !. Ok Dreamy was this the long awaited poptastic sequel to Drowning in Berlin, done by The Mobiles ?. And Im sure weve all been desperately waiting for a follow up to that one havent we lol. But no I see it was another typical (and Id also say tedious) Liz Bonnin production where she will present anything and everything, just as long as the money is there etc.
